In Alien Attack: USA, you step into command of the U.S. military forces in a desperate attempt to contain a hostile alien invasion that is definitely not playing around. The catch? These invaders arrive in waves, and they don't follow a script: every turn, uncertainty looms over which region will be the next target. And let's be real—with so many attacks happening simultaneously, it is humanly impossible to protect every single inch of the territory. Strategy is everything here. You won't be able to save everyone, so the secret lies in knowing where to deploy your defense resources. Your goal is to manage your units to protect what truly matters: strategic cities, national parks, and even livestock farms, all while trying to destroy alien bases that start popping up in the areas you've left undefended. It's a game of priorities and constant crisis management. During your turn, you'll need to act fast to defend attacked regions, collect national park markers, and score points in urban or rural areas. Also, keep a close eye on public and private objectives; they can be the deciding factor between a heroic victory and a total disaster. If you enjoy strategy games with a touch of tension and that 'we need a plan, now!' feeling, Alien Attack: USA will keep you glued to the table. It's a challenge of positioning and area control where every defensive decision can either save a city or clear the way for the invaders to dominate the map. ## How to Play Objective of the Game In Alien Attack USA, players take on the role of military forces tasked with defending the United States from an alien invasion. The aliens attack in waves, targeting various regions of the country. Players must strategically defend cities, protect borders, evacuate populations to National Parks, and gather supplies to ensure humanity’s survival. The goal is to minimize losses and score the most Victory Points (VP) by defending key areas and completing missions. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins. Preparation (Setup) Place the game board in the center of the table. It represents a map of the United States divided into 120 numbered spaces. Place the 22 National Park markers near the board. These correspond to the 22 National Parks on the board. Each player chooses a color and takes all components of that color: 1 Victory Point marker (placed on the 0 space of the VP track), 4 Special Power pieces, and 33 defense discs. Arrange the Global Mission cards face up near the board. Shuffle the four City Mission cards and four Border Mission cards separately. Deal one of each to every player, who places them face up in front of them. Place all 120 alien attack markers into the Mothership. These markers correspond to the numbered spaces on the board. Flow of the Game The game is played over multiple rounds. Each round consists of the following steps: Draw and Place the Attacks: Draw a number of alien attack markers from the Mothership equal to the number of players plus two. Place them number-side up on the corresponding spaces on the board. Defend and Score Regions: Players take turns selecting an undefended alien attack marker and covering it with one of their defense discs. They score points based on the type of space defended (see Scoring Defense). Attack Markers Become Bases: Any undefended alien attack markers are flipped over to become permanent alien bases. If a defense disc is trapped between two adjacent bases, it is removed from the game. End of the Round: The Mothership is passed to the next player, who starts the next round. Actions and How to Play During their turn, players can perform the following actions: Defend a Space: Place a defense disc on an undefended alien attack marker to score points based on the type of space (city, herd, National Park, or alien base). Use Special Power Pieces: Each player has 4 Special Power pieces that can be used once per game: Protection: Prevents a defense disc from being removed when an alien base is formed. Cover: Places a defense disc on a space after destroying an alien base. Neighborhood: Destroys an alien base adjacent to any of your defense discs. Extra Turn: Allows a player to take an additional turn after placing a defense disc. End of Game and Scoring The game ends when all alien attack markers have been placed on the board, leaving the Mothership empty. Players then score their missions: City Missions: Score points for defending cities matching the value on your mission card. Border Missions: Score points for defending spaces on the border indicated on your mission card. Global Missions: Score points for National Parks, Alien Bases, Territorial Expansion, and Global Protection. The player with the most Victory Points wins. In case of a tie, the player who defended the highest-value city space wins. Tips for Winning Prioritize High-Value Cities: Defending cities with higher values can significantly boost your score. Use Special Powers Wisely: Save your Special Power pieces for critical moments, such as preventing the loss of a defense disc or destroying multiple alien bases. Focus on Missions: Completing your City and Border Missions can provide a substantial points advantage at the end of the game. ## FAQ ### How long does a game take?
