Tomb of Wonders is exactly that for Ankh: Gods of Egypt. This box isn't just a standard expansion; it's the ultimate bundle gathering all the stretch goals from the Kickstarter campaign. If you're looking to elevate both the visual and strategic level of your divine dispute, this is where it's at. Visually, the game gets a massive overhaul. Forget simple tokens; we're talking 3D action markers, temples, obelisks, and pyramids that pop off the board, along with deluxe central and devotion boards. The immersion is drastically increased with plastic tokens for conflicts, the sun, the underworld, and followers, making game management much more tactile and intuitive. But it's not just 'eye candy.' The content adds new layers of gameplay with the addition of two powerful new gods: Ptah and Sobek, each with their own warriors, priests, and specific components. To make the matches even more dynamic, the box includes 14 exclusive Guardians (such as Bes, Bennu, and Medjed), bringing new abilities and challenges to the battlefield. It's the perfect addition for those who already love the base game and want to expand the war for control of Egypt with more tactical options and a visual presentation worthy of a museum. Get ready to transform your table into a mythological battlefield where aesthetics and strategy go hand in hand. ## How to Play Game Objective Refer to the manual for details about this section. Setup The Ptah player starts with 2 Exalted Follower tokens on their God panel. The Petsuchos miniature begins the game beside the board, in addition to the normal Guardians. Game Flow At the end of each Conflict event, after resolving all other effects, Petsuchos is given to the player with the lowest Devotion. It is removed from the board and placed in that player's reserve. If control of Petsuchos does not change, it remains on the board. Actions and How to Play Movement Actions During a Move Miniatures action, instead of moving Heka, you may kill it to gain 3 Follower tokens. During a Move Miniatures action, you may move Nekhbet any number of spaces. After winning a Battle with Serket, you may move it to any empty non-Water space in a region with a Conflict Order token that has a higher number than the current region (even if you have no figures there). If no valid spaces are available or if it's the last Battle, Serket cannot be moved. When using Harmony with the Obelisks, you may move miniatures to empty spaces adjacent to your Babi. Since you move miniatures one at a time, you can move a Babi from another region to a space adjacent to an Obelisk in the region and then move other miniatures to spaces adjacent to your Babi. Summoning Miniatures Unut may be summoned adjacent to any miniature on the board, regardless of ownership. It does not need to be summoned adjacent to your miniatures or monuments. Unut may also be summoned using the normal rules if the owner wishes. Unut only counts as an extra summon IN HARMONY WITH THE PYRAMIDS if it is actually summoned adjacent to one of your Pyramids. Otherwise, it counts as your normal summon. During a Gain Followers action, before gaining Followers, you may choose to: Summon Khepri to an empty non-Water space adjacent to ANY Monument on the board; or Move Khepri to an empty non-Water space adjacent to ANY Monument on the board. You may summon or move all Khepris you own during each Gain Followers action. To summon Petsuchos, first choose a valid summoning space. Then place Petsuchos occupying that space and 1 adjacent empty space (if no adjacent empty spaces exist, you cannot choose that space). God and Guardian Abilities The Ptah player starts with 2 Exalted Follower tokens on their God panel. After the Ptah player builds a Monument (by any effect), they gain all Exalted Follower tokens from their God panel, adding them to their supply. Exalted Followers count as 2 Followers for all effects. Players do not receive change when using Exalted Followers to pay for 1 Follower. When sacrificed, they return to the God panel. Exalted Followers may be used normally (counting as 2). After any other player builds a Monument, they must give the Ptah player 1 Follower if they have any. The Sobek God figure may occupy spaces with 3 Water tokens near their God panel. Whenever the Sobek player dominates a region or wins a battle with their God figure in it, they may place 1 Water token on any empty space in that region, adjacent to a river, Water space, Camel, or outer edge (even if Sobek is forgotten). The Water token is placed after Battle Resolution. If Sobek wins a Battle against Osiris, first Sobek may place the Water token, and then Osiris may place the Underworld token. If Wadjet is your only miniature in a battle, it gains +1 strength. Additionally, your Devotion reward for winning a Battle where Wadjet is your only miniature is increased by 1. When resolving a Battle Resolution where any Medjed is present, the winner gains Followers instead of Devotion for winning the Battle. This occurs even if the owner of Medjed is the winner. If all Medjeds in the Battle are killed by the Locust Plague before resolving the Battle Resolution, the winner gains Devotion as normal. When checking Monument Majority, if you have 1 BES in the region, the Devotion reward you gain for Pyramid Majority increases by 1 for each Pyramid you control in the region. If you have 2 BES in the region, the reward increases by 2 for each Pyramid. Griffin has 1 strength for each Temple you control, no matter where they are on the board. Taweret has +2 strength for each divine miniature present in its region, including your God. At the end of a Battle, if at least 1 of your Pharaoh's Mummies is killed during the Battle, you recover all your used Battle cards. Petsuchos Rules Petsuchos is a Guardian with a base strength of 3. Petsuchos occupies 2 adjacent spaces but is always treated as a single miniature for all effects. The 2 Petsuchos spaces must always be in the same region. Petsuchos cannot occupy Water spaces. It may occupy one Fertile and one Desert space simultaneously but cannot occupy Water spaces. Petsuchos may also occupy an Underworld token and another space simultaneously if controlled by Osiris. To move Petsuchos, first choose 1 of the 2 occupied spaces as the starting space. Then, based on how many spaces you can move, choose a space within that distance from the starting space and place Petsuchos occupying that space and any other adjacent empty space. If Petsuchos is moved without a specific distance (e.g., Harmony with the Obelisks), first choose a valid space for the move. Then place Petsuchos occupying that space and 1 adjacent empty space (if no adjacent empty spaces exist, you cannot choose that space). Spaces adjacent to either space occupied by Petsuchos are considered adjacent to it. If no adjacent empty space exists, you cannot choose that space. Petsuchos does not count its strength if in the same region as an enemy Shezmu and cannot enter or be summoned to a region with an enemy Shezmu. Shezmu does not affect Petsuchos' abilities to occupy 2 spaces or change control at the end of a Conflict event. Other Rules During Conflict events, Babi also counts as an Obelisk under your control. When resolving Obelisk Majority, each Babi counts as 1 Obelisk. End Game and Scoring Refer to the manual for details about this section. Winning Tips Since Exalted Followers count as 2 Followers, the Ptah player should focus on building Monuments to replenish their supply with these valuable tokens, maximizing their payment power. The Sobek player can permanently alter the map by creating Water spaces. Use this ability strategically to control regions and limit opponents' movement, as Water tokens cannot be moved or removed. If you control Petsuchos, try to keep it in regions without an enemy Shezmu, as its strength is negated and it cannot enter or be summoned to those regions. ## FAQ ### Do I need the base game to use this box? Yes! Tomb of Wonders is an expansion and upgrade; you need Ankh: Gods of Egypt to play. ### What's new in terms of gameplay? Beyond the deluxe components, you get two new gods (Ptah and Sobek) and 14 new exclusive Guardians. ### Do the 3D components change the rules? Most are visual upgrades (like the pyramids and obelisks), but the new gods and guardians introduce new abilities and strategies. ### Is it hard to set up or organize? Since there are many small pieces and miniatures, initial organization takes some patience, but the plastic quality makes identification easier. ### Is it worth it if I already own the base game? If you love the theme and want the 'definitive' version with the best possible aesthetics, absolutely.
