The goal is straightforward – be the first to load your ship with the five types of cargo scattered across the table (goblet, chest, gem, gold and, believe it or not, the captain). To set up, place the octopus head in the centre, spread its tentacles around, and position the ships on the edge, outside the tentacle reach. The cargo is dropped by bouncing it off the octopus head, scattering the items. On a turn, a player uses their flag to either "navigate" – flick the anchor next to their ship and slide the ship to touch the anchor – or "flick" cargo. When flicking a piece that isn’t already on your ship (except the one closest to you), you try to hit your own vessel. If you hit, you load the cargo and advance the octopus' anger tracker, a string of beads along the perimeter. When a black bead is reached, the octopus attacks! All players then roll a die against the octopus head, which may shift, move a tentacle, or knock ships and cargo out of reach, creating chaotic twists.
