Each participant steps into the shoes of a farm owner who must expand land, raise livestock and install productive facilities to build an economic engine that generates resources and, ultimately, victory points. The game unfolds over four rounds, each representing a year of work. In every year players receive a closed set of cards, conduct a secret draft, and add the chosen cards to their personal board, which functions as a tableau farm. Cards can introduce new fields, animals, buildings or upgrades that boost production. When the year ends the harvest season arrives. During this phase everyone irrigates fields, feeds animals and pays maintenance costs. If the balance is right, the harvest yields valuable resources—grain, wood, money—that can be reinvested in the following rounds. The order of phases may shift based on cards or strategic choices, creating a variable phase order that keeps the game from becoming predictable. Actions are selected simultaneously, so each player plans without knowing exactly what the opponent will do, raising tension and the need for anticipation. Across the four years the goal is to turn accumulated wealth into victory points, whether by selling products, constructing high‑value buildings or hitting production milestones. The player with the most points after the fourth harvest wins. With beautifully illustrated cards, farm tiles and resource tokens, Fields of Green blends closed drafting, simultaneous action selection, tile placement and variable phase order, delivering a tableau‑building experience that will please both economic‑game fans and lovers of rural themes. ## How to Play Game Objective In Fields of Green, each player takes on the role of a farmer who has four years to turn a piece of land into a productive farm. You do this by choosing cards of Plantations, Breeding, Structures, and Buildings, positioning them in the best possible way in your play area. At the end of the fourth year, the player with the most efficient farm – measured in PV (victory points) – wins the game. Preparation (Setup) Separate all cards by type. You will have four main piles of Location Cards (Plantations, Breeding, Structures, and Buildings) and two piles of Water Tower Cards and Silo Cards. Shuffle each of the four main piles and place them face down in the center of the table. Place the corresponding Identifier piece in front of each pile. Place the Water Tower piles and Silo piles face up near the other piles. Distribute 15 coins to each player and one Water Tower card and one Silo card in front of them. Place 3 Water markers on each Water Tower and 1 Food marker on each Silo. Place the remaining coins and the PV markers, Water, and Food in the center of the table, within reach of everyone – these are the Supplies. Shuffle the Equipment pieces into a pile face down next to the Supplies. The player who most recently visited a farm or rural area receives the First Player marker and starts the game. Game Flow The game unfolds over four years, each represented by a round. Each round consists of the following phases: Maintenance Phase Move the Year marker to the current year on the Annual Record Piece. Receive the round resources: 1 Food marker, 2 Water markers, and 3 coins (except on the first round).
