Monsters on Board is a dice-based game that blends strategy, luck, and a splash of horror. Over six rounds, each player tries to assemble the most powerful monster squad by drafting dice that arrive in fear-filled vehicles. After selecting four dice, you send them to the “Order of Spider Jack,” where each die earns actions and, when the big Jack is called, releases a hefty dose of Spook Juice – the monster party fuel. The higher the die’s number, the scarier the monster, but it also offers fewer powerful actions. Conversely, weaker monsters grant more actions, so the choice is strategic: you want the right mix of fear and action. Meanwhile, the monsters move their miniatures – the Grunts – through the town of Startleton, scaring the townsfolk and granting action bonuses. Spook Juice bonuses are awarded at the end, based on how well you fulfilled your Prophecy cards, how much terror you caused in the town, and whether you appeased the Arch Monsters that appear in the final rounds. The goal is simple: accumulate the most Spook Juice and become the night’s master. The game combines dice rolling with open drafting and a touch of track movement for the miniatures.
