Popcorn puts each player in charge of an independent movie theater, with the goal of drawing the most guests and filling the popcorn box before the final film rolls. The game spans nine rounds; in each round you may purchase a new movie, upgrade your theater (screen, projector, concession stand) and launch advertising campaigns to lure audiences. Then comes "showtime": you randomly draw guests from your bag and seat them. Each seat holds a special ability that triggers when the right guest sits, and matching the screened movie with the guests' preferences yields movie bonuses – the better the audience’s taste, the bigger the reward. Opponents’ ads can pull some of your guests to their cinemas, but you can do the same to them. Movies lose value the longer they stay in rotation, so constantly introducing fresh titles is key to keeping excitement high. At the end, the player with the most popcorn – the game’s currency – wins, though city awards also mark cinematic excellence. The deck, bag, and pool‑building mechanic lets each player craft a personal pool of movies and patrons, shaping unique strategies.
