In each round, a player draws a card and must get their teammates to guess the keyword without using five forbidden terms listed at the bottom of the card. They can say anything – metaphors, stories, sounds – as long as they avoid the “taboo” words. Meanwhile, the opposing team watches the sand timer and, if the clue‑giver slips up and mentions a forbidden word or makes a gesture, they hit the buzzer and claim the point. The goal is to rack up as many cards as possible before time runs out. The game shines with 4 to 10 players, making it perfect for parties, family gatherings, or relaxed study sessions. Rules are straightforward, welcoming newcomers, yet the pressure of not saying the right words creates hilarious moments and healthy competition. A typical playtime is 20‑30 minutes, allowing multiple rounds in one evening. Components include a deck of cards, two sand timers (usually 60 seconds), a buzzer or whistle, and a score pad. While the mechanic is simple, the fun comes from creative clues and quick thinking. Taboo serves as a great exercise in communication, vocabulary, and improvisation, guaranteeing laughs whenever someone tries to dodge an impossible taboo. ## FAQ ### How many players can join? 4 to 10 players, split into two teams. ### How long does a game last?
