Here, players split into two teams: the good guys, featuring heroes like Gandalf, Bilbo, and Thorin, versus the bad guys, led by the fearsome Smaug and his orcs. The goal is straightforward: use the cards in your hand to win rounds (the famous 'tricks') and, depending on your character's ability, manage what happens next. Won a trick? Great! Now you decide the fate of the cards. Bilbo, for instance, might have to keep one, give another away, and discard the rest. But watch out! Each character has a side, and receiving cards that don't align with their affinity causes damage. Gandalf taking a hit from an orc? Damage incoming! Conversely, if an already injured character receives a card of their own alignment, they heal a bit. Two damage points and your character is out of the game! The trick is to use your wins to take down opponents and keep your allies standing. The round ends when hands are empty and all played cards have been distributed. Those eliminated by damage are removed. If the heroes survive until the end, they win. If the villains are more efficient and eliminate the good guys first, victory is theirs!
