Each module throws a fresh Amazonian mystery at the table: the fabled Fountain of Youth guarded by Francisco de Orellana's conquistadors, a mysterious mountain that drags planes down, an ancient cursed mark known simply as "The Mark," and other threats that turn the jungle into a veritable cauldron of danger. The base game’s cooperative core remains intact, demanding 1‑5 players to work together, decipher clues, manage resources, and survive unexpected encounters. New cards bring themed enemies, items, and events, while modular boards expand the map, ensuring each session feels different. Exploration stays straightforward: players reveal tiles, progress through missions, and face challenges that require quick decisions and solid communication. With a light weight (2.2/5) and a playtime of 30‑50 minutes, it’s perfect for groups short on time. Components match the base game’s quality, featuring vivid artwork that captures the dense jungle and colonial mystique. If you love cooperative adventure, exploration stories, and want more content without a steep learning curve, this expansion delivers exactly that, adding variety and replayability to The Lost Expedition’s solid engine. ## How to Play Game Objective In The Lost Expedition: The Fountain of Youth & Other Adventures, players continue their journeys into the Amazon jungle in search of the lost city of Z. This expansion includes four modules that can be used separately or combined to add variety and challenge to the original game. The main objective remains the same: survive the dangers of the jungle and reach the lost city with at least one explorer alive. Preparation (Setup) Each expansion has its own setup: The Fountain Shuffle the 12 adventure cards into the adventure deck (identified by a skull behind the number). Remove cards with an exclamation mark if playing in competitive mode. The Mark Shuffle the 6 adventure cards (identified by a footprint) into the deck. Keep the Were-Beast card separate. The Mountain Replace the original expedition cards with the new mountain cards. Set up the path with the Base Camp, Peak, and Slope cards face down, according to difficulty: Easy/competitive: 5 cards | Normal/solo: 7 cards | Difficult: 8 cards. New Friends Randomly assign a companion card (Vulcana, Comatsi, or Rinty) to each team. Place 3 Health tokens on each (5 on Vulcana). Gameplay Flow The game follows the basic structure of The Lost Expedition, with these additions: The Fountain Adds more difficult cards with immortal conquistadors. Use with New Friends for balance. The Mark If an explorer receives a Mark, place the Were-Beast card under them. When transformed, it replaces the original explorer, gaining Expertise: Ammunition. The Mountain When advancing to a face-down card, reveal it. At the Peak, reveal all remaining cards. Scout actions allow you to see/rearrange 3 cards from the deck. New Friends Companions act as explorers but do not count towards victory. Each has unique abilities. Endurance Rule If the deck runs out, do not shuffle the discards. If there are not enough cards for a morning walk, players lose. Actions and How to Play The Mark Mark: If no explorer is marked, place Were-Beast under one of them. If one is already marked, transform them into the Were-Beast. In competitive mode, only one explorer can be marked at a time. The Mountain Scout: Reveal 3 cards from the deck. Decide whether to rearrange or discard all. In solo mode, you cannot rearrange — only keep or discard. New Friends Comatsi: Expert in all areas. Vulcana: 5 Health, no Expertise. Rinty: Can spend 1 Health to discard the last card on the path (except the current one). End of Game and Scoring Players win if: At least one explorer (not companion) reaches the lost city of Z. They lose if: All explorers die. The adventure deck runs out and there are not enough cards to continue (Endurance rule). Tips for Winning Use The Fountain with New Friends to balance the increased difficulty. With The Mark, weigh the risks: a Were-Beast loses its original Expertise but gains tactical advantages. In The Mountain, Scout actions are vital for planning safe routes — use them strategically. ## FAQ ### How many players can play? 1 to 5 players, including a solo mode. ### What’s the typical playtime?
