Each Pokémon in play has its own HP printed on the card and takes damage counters independently. When accumulated damage meets or exceeds the HP, the Pokémon is knocked out and the opponent takes a Prize card. That changes what needs tracking: instead of one count, there are several simultaneous counts plus each side's Prize tally. That is why this tool uses independent panels rather than a single number. Since the game ends on Prizes and not on damage, the Prize tally is the most important number on the table — and the easiest to lose track of during a run of knockouts. ## Frequently asked questions ### How does prize card tracking work? Each player sets aside 6 prize cards at the start. Taking prize cards upon knocking out opponent Pokémon wins the game once all 6 are claimed. ### Why is damage marked in tens? All damage in the game is expressed in multiples of 10, and the physical counters come in that scale. Keeping the count in tens avoids errors when comparing against the HP printed on the card. ### How many Prize cards are used? Six in the standard format. Some quick formats and introductory products use three, which shortens the game considerably. ### Does accumulated damage clear at end of turn? No. Damage counters stay on the Pokémon until it is healed by an effect or knocked out. ## Dedicated per-game pages - [Magic: Commander / EDH](https://www.boardgamesbot.com/tools/life-counter/magic-commander) - [Magic: MTG 1v1](https://www.boardgamesbot.com/tools/life-counter/magic-the-gathering) - [Yu-Gi-Oh!](https://www.boardgamesbot.com/tools/life-counter/yugioh) - [Pokémon TCG](https://www.boardgamesbot.com/tools/life-counter/pokemon-tcg) - [Disney Lorcana](https://www.boardgamesbot.com/tools/life-counter/disney-lorcana) - [One Piece Card Game](https://www.boardgamesbot.com/tools/life-counter/one-piece-card-game) - [Star Wars: Unlimited](https://www.boardgamesbot.com/tools/life-counter/star-wars-unlimited) - [King of Tokyo](https://www.boardgamesbot.com/tools/life-counter/king-of-tokyo) - [Catan](https://www.boardgamesbot.com/tools/life-counter/catan) - [Star Realms](https://www.boardgamesbot.com/tools/life-counter/star-realms)
