Over five rounds you recruit crew, purchase projects, build ships and send those vessels to ports in Eastern Africa and India. Each round starts with the action‑selection phase: you place a numbered disc on top of your colour disc in one of four board areas. The Vasco tile shows a threshold number – actions above it are free, those below cost money. After everyone has placed four discs, an activation‑number modifier is revealed and actions are resolved in ascending order. In the crew area you can hire sailors and a captain, paying cash. When the ship phase arrives each vessel displays two numbers: navigation strength and the required amount of different crew types. You pay the crew cost, flip the tile to reveal the captain and place the ship in a row of your choice, never exceeding its navigation strength. Every completed route grants an immediate reward and victory points. The farther the destination (Natal, Terra de Boa Gente, Mozambique, Malindi, Mombasa or Calicut), the lower the monetary payout but the higher the VP. If a port receives the required number of ships by round’s end, it yields extra points and may advance to the next landing in subsequent rounds. Four influential characters – Priest Alvares, Merchant Sernigi, Leader Dias and King Manuel I – offer free favors such as missionaries, ship organization, extra initiative or additional actions, depending on the situation. Deciding whether to pay for an action or wait for a free benefit is key, because acting earlier usually costs more. After five rounds the player with the most victory points – prestige earned from routes and port bonuses – wins. The game blends resource management, push‑your‑luck risk, tile placement for routes, and worker placement, all wrapped in a well‑realized nautical‑Renaissance theme. ## FAQ ### How long does a game take?
