The main highlight here is the addition of two new buildings that shift the game's dynamics: the Brewery and the Inn. At the Brewery, you can now produce beer, a new resource that isn't just for celebrating but opens the door to more complex interactions. The Inn, meanwhile, acts as the era's networking hub; this is where you'll encounter influential figures represented by villager cards. To recruit these new residents, you'll need to invest time, coins, and, of course, some beer. The clever part is that each villager brings a unique ability. These capabilities can be used only once per game, so the strategy lies in knowing exactly when to activate this bonus to gain immediate advantages or secure extra points at the end of the game through specific achievements. It's the kind of addition that adds extra layers of decision-making without overcomplicating what already works in the base game. Beyond all this thematic and strategic content, the expansion solves a common problem for those with a larger group: it includes all the necessary components to add a fifth player to the table. Now, the struggle for space and resources in the village becomes even tighter and more competitive. If you're looking to expand your scoring possibilities and want to bring more friends into the fold, the Inn is a mandatory stop for your village to grow and prosper. ## How to Play Objective of the Game In Village: Inn, players are trying to brew beer and meet influential people. If you dedicate enough time and offer a mug or two of beer, these influential people will provide special services. These services will help you on your path to glory. This expansion also includes all necessary components for a fifth player. Preparation (Setup) The game is for 2 to 5 players, aged 12 and up. If you want to play the base game with 5 players (without the expansion), continue reading on page 6 of the base rules and skip everything else. Use these new fields for the chronicles and nameless graves when placing them next to the game board. Stick the stickers onto the gray family members. Add them together with the gray markers and farm to the game. Add the additional grain sacks, coins, and influence cubes to the game. After placing the game board on the table, perform the following additional actions: Open the chronicles on the Inn game board. Open the nameless graves on the Brewery game board. Place the new chronicles in the center-bottom of the game board. Place the new nameless graves to the left of the chronicles at the bottom of the game board. Shuffle the villager cards and form 3 decks. Place 3 decks face up at the bottom of the Inn. If you are playing with fewer than 5 players, use family members of unused colors to reduce the number of new chronicles and nameless graves. For 4 players: Place unused family members on each space and nameless graves with a number. For 3 players: Place unused family members on each space and nameless graves with numbers 4 and 5. For 2 players: Place unused family members on each space and nameless graves with numbers 3, 4, and 5. Add 12 beer tiles to the general supply. Then give each player 1 beer tile, which they place next to their farm. Take the appropriate number of starting customer cards for the number of players (1 for 5 players, 2 double-sided for 2, 3, 4, 5 players for the expansion game) and place it next to the game board. The Brewery field is a new building. To access the Brewery, you must take a cube from the yellow area (or perform an action). The game is played as usual. However, now there are new tasks in the village: the Brewery and the Inn. Flow of the Game Consulte o manual para detalhes sobre esta seção. Actions and How to Play Brewery In the Brewery, you produce good beer. With this action, you always produce 1 beer tile immediately. Additionally, this action is very similar to the mill. You produce 2 beer tiles in two ways: Spend 3 hours (after training, place 1 beer tile in the Brewery for 3 hours). Return 3 grain sacks to the supply. Inn The Inn offers a completely new type of action. To access the Inn, you must take a cube from the turquoise area (or perform an action). With this action, you can acquire 1 villager card. This action requires a family member to be in the Inn. If you do not yet have a family member in the Inn, spend 1 hour and place a family member from your farm into the Inn. Regardless of whether you placed your family member in the Inn just now or on a previous turn, you can now acquire 1 villager card. To do this, follow these 3 steps in order: Spend 1 additional hour. Choose the top card from one of the 3 villager decks and place that card face up at the bottom of the same deck. Acquire the villager card that is now on top of one of the 3 villager decks and pay the cost of that card. The cost is shown in the upper right corner of each card (it can be 1 coin, 1 beer, or 2 beer). Then take the card into your hand. Example: Acquiring a Villager Card Philip takes a brown cube from the turquoise area to enter the Inn. Since he does not yet have family members in the Inn, he places a family member from his farm and spends 1 hour for this. Then he: spends 1 additional hour, chooses to move the Blacksmith card to the bottom of the deck, chooses to acquire the Medico, spending 2 beer. Note: You are not allowed to look through the villager deck. Only the top card in each deck should be visible. Important: If a family member dies in the Inn, place them in the nameless grave. Unlucky "tappers" are not mentioned in the chronicles! Villager Cards Each villager card has a unique ability that can be used once per game. Some cards must be kept until the end of the game for final scoring and may give additional points. These cards are marked with an extinguished candle in the bottom right corner. All other cards are marked with a burning candle. You can play as many of these cards during your turn as you want. However, some of these cards have specific requirements or can only be played when certain actions are performed. Once you have played a card, it is removed from the game. Important: The effect of any card applies only to the cardholder, and never to other players. Specific Villager Cards Play these cards at any time during your own turn, during the market day, or during mass: Abbot: To play this card, you must have at least 1 family member in the church. Immediately move 1 of your family members in the church to the leftmost window. (You do not pay any grain sacks for this.) Blacksmith: Immediately take 2 plows and place them next to your farm. Cattle breeder: Immediately take 1 horse and place it next to your farm. Councilman: To play this card, you must have at least 1 family member in the city council. Immediately gain 2 privileges according to the level of your family member in the council. This means you can choose any privilege of the same or lower level as that family member. You can choose different privileges or the same privilege twice. If the first player already has it, you cannot take this privilege. Example: Peter has a blue family member on the 3rd space of the council. He plays the Councilman and gains 1 horse and 1 beer as privileges. Farmhand: Immediately gain 2 points on the score track. Also, fill empty spaces on your farm with grain sacks. As usual, you cannot have more than 2 grain sacks at once. Herb woman: Immediately gain 2 points on the score track. You can also move a marker on your life scale from a clockwise space to a counter-clockwise space (thereby making the next death earlier or later). Lost son: Immediately gain 2 points on the score track. You can also perform 1 family action: place a new family member on your farm or return a living family member from the game board to your farm. This family action is additional, not part of your normal turn (therefore, you do not pay for it with influence cubes and do not take cubes from the family zone). Messenger: Immediately place 2 of your markers on any city on the travel track that does not yet have a marker of your color. Also, gain 1 bonus from that city. (Do not move a family member to this city.) Noblewoman: Immediately gain 2 points on the score track. Also, choose 1 of the 3 villager decks and choose 1 card from it. Then return the deck to its place (without changing the card order) and take the chosen card into your hand (or play it). Scribe: Immediately gain 1 scroll and place it next to your farm. Wagon maker: Immediately gain 1 wagon and place it next to your farm. Play these cards at any time during a specific action or in specific situations: Bard: Play this card when one of your family members dies. Add this family member to the chronicles regardless of where they died. This family member does not take up any space in the chronicles and is simply placed there additionally. Barker: Play this card at the beginning of the market day. During this day, you can serve clients not only in front of the stalls but also clients in line. All other rules apply as before. Juggler: Play this card immediately after completing a normal action on your turn. Immediately gain 2 points on the score track and perform 1 additional action (take a cube from an action zone or pay 3 influence cubes). If your marker crosses the death space during your normal action, a family member dies before you perform the additional action. Miller: Play this card when you perform the action of gaining coins at the mill. Once you gain 5 coins (instead of 2), spending 2 hours and returning 2 grain sacks to the supply. Old man: Play this card on your turn to choose an action. Immediately gain 2 points on the score track and perform an action of your choice, without spending influence cubes and without taking cubes from the action zone. Priest: Play this card at the beginning of mass. During this mass, no player can take a family member from the black bag. Instead, you can choose which figures (family members and/or monks) will be taken from the black bag. Scrap dealer: Play this card at the end of the market day, but immediately before filling empty spaces in front of the stalls with clients from the queue. You can freely take 1 client tile from those remaining in front of the stalls and place it face down in front of you. (Cannot be combined with the Barker card.) Toll keeper: Play this card when performing a travel action. You always move a family member to an adjacent city, but you do not pay for travel expenses (influence cubes, hours, wagon).
