Virus! 2 Evolution isn't just a handful of extra cards; it's a significant upgrade that shifts the dynamics for anyone trying to keep their organs intact. The big twist here is that the viruses have become much more aggressive, forcing you to look beyond standard medicines and resort to experimental treatments to avoid losing everything in the blink of an eye. What actually changes on the table? Well, the fun (and the chaos) ramps up with several new elements. We're talking about bionic organs that are virtually indestructible, protective gear to shield yourself from opponents' moves, and even the ability to put someone in quarantine—which is perfect if you enjoy a bit of friendly sabotage. The expansion also introduces action cards that let you steal resources from other players, cranking up the 'take that' intensity of your sessions. It's not just about the new components, though; the game's structure gets a fresh breath of life too. This expansion offers rule variants that can completely change the flow of your game night. There is a specific mode for 2-player matches, solving a common gap in the original game, and a variant that allows for the permanent removal of viruses, preventing that endless loop of infection and cure that can sometimes drag a game out. If you're looking to spice up your quick card game nights, this evolution is exactly the upgrade your deck needs to become more strategic and, of course, much more chaotic! ## How to Play Game Objective In Virus! 2 Evolution, the situation is critical! The viruses have evolved, becoming more resistant and aggressive, and basic medications are no longer effective. As doctors, you are testing new treatments to control the pandemic before the evolved viruses take over the body. The main goal is to keep the viruses under control by placing them in quarantine, using experimental medications to cure infected organs, and ultimately saving your organs. To win the game, you must have 4 Healthy Organs in your body. Setup Shuffle the VIRUS! cards. Deal 3 VIRUS! cards to each player. Each player receives 1 Quarantine card (the last one on top of the deck). Players must place the Quarantine card with the VIRUS! face-up at the bottom of the box (Quarantine Zone), in the lower-left corner. Game Flow Refer to the manual for details on this section. Actions and How to Play The Virus! 2 Evolution cards modify the basic rules of Virus!. Below, we detail the types of cards and their actions: Card Types ORGANS: You can only have two organs of the same type at the same time. BIONIC ORGAN: Can be of any virus type (basic or evolved) without needing an organ of the same type. Can be affected by some treatments. You can have a bionic organ and a normal organ of the same type to form a body. Are not considered healthy organs unless you have an organ of the same type. Are immune to any type of virus (basic or evolved). EVOLVED VIRUSES: Are resistant to basic medications; you need an experimental medication to cure them or can use treatments. Are played the same way as basic viruses. INFECT: Place an evolved virus card on one of your organs or an opponent's. If you play an evolved virus on an already infected organ, place a second virus on top of the infected organ. If you are the player with the infected organ, you may discard the evolved virus. REMOVE: Remove an infected organ. Place a second virus on an infected organ. If you are the player with the infected organ, you may discard the evolved virus. NEUTRALIZE: Destroy a vaccine. An evolved virus can eliminate an experimental medication. If you play an evolved virus on an experimental medication, the medication and virus cards are discarded. EXPERIMENTAL MEDICATIONS: Protect your body against evolved viruses. Are played the same way as medications in the base game. CURE: Destroy a basic or evolved virus. Use an experimental medication card to cure a basic or evolved virus. If you play an experimental medication on a virus, the virus and cards are discarded to the discard pile. ORGANIZE (+1): Place an experimental medication on an infected organ, then place a second medication on an infected organ. If you are the player with the infected organ, you may discard the evolved virus. SUPER IMMUNIZE (+2): Place an experimental medication on an infected organ, then place a second medication on an infected organ. If you are the player with the infected organ, you may discard the evolved virus. TREATMENTS: Are played the same way as viruses. OVERTIME: Play two cards from your hand. Draw a card from your hand. SECOND OPINION: Play a card from your hand. Draw a card from your hand. PROTECTIVE SUIT: Play a card from your hand. Draw a card from your hand. MULTICOLORED CARDS: Are considered to be of all types. The multicolored organ does not replace a specific organ. The multicolored organ is immune to any type of virus (basic or evolved). An evolved multicolored virus, like the basic one, can affect any organ. End of Game and Scoring The game ends when a player manages to have 4 Healthy Organs in their body. This player is the winner. Refer to the manual for details on this section. Tips to Win Focus on having 4 Healthy Organs in your body, as this is the victory condition. Use experimental medications to cure evolved viruses, since basic medications are ineffective against them. Consider using treatments to get rid of evolved viruses or to manipulate your hand of cards, such as with OVERTIME, SECOND OPINION, or PROTECTIVE SUIT. ## FAQ ### Can I play this without the base game?
