Step by step
Goal of the Game
In Dobro, players participate in a card duel where the objective is to accumulate the highest possible score over 3 rounds. To win, you must be the player with the highest total score at the end of the third round.
Setup
- Place the direction card on the table with the "clockwise" side facing up.
- Shuffle the numbered cards and the special cards.
- Deal 6 cards to each player (if there are 6 players, deal 5 cards to each).
- Form a face-down Draw Pile next to the direction card.
- Place the Forgotten card next to the Draw Pile.
- Randomly choose a player to start the first Climb of the round.
2-Player Variant
For matches with only 2 players, make the following changes to the setup:
- Return the direction card and the two Reverse Direction cards to the game box. >
- Before starting each Round, remove 10 random cards from the Draw Pile (without showing the face) and set them aside. They must be returned to the Draw Pile when preparing the next round.
Gameplay Flow
A complete game is divided into 3 rounds. Each round consists of several Climbs.
The Climb
During a Climb, players play cards to increase the current value. The Climb ends when a player cannot or does not want to play cards that increase this value. That player collects all the cards on the table into their Scoring Pile and starts a new Climb.
End of the Round
The round ends when the Draw Pile is exhausted and a player empties their hand. At that moment, the cards on the table and the remaining cards in the players' hands are discarded and the score is calculated.
Actions and How to Play
On your turn, you must perform one of the following actions:
- Play a card: Must have a value equal to or greater than the current value. If the value is equal, the value doubles.
- Play two cards: You can play two cards of the same value whose sum is equal to or greater than the current value. If the sum is equal, the value doubles. >
- Play a special card: Use the abilities of the special cards.
- End the Climb: If you cannot or do not want to play, you take all the cards from the table and place them in your Scoring Pile.
Important Turn Rules:
- The starting player of each Climb may play one or two cards of any value.
- After playing, the player must announce the new current value and refill their hand up to 6 cards (or 5, if there are 6 players) from the Draw Pile.
- If a player forgets to refill their hand, they must take the Forgotten card and place it in front of them.
Special Card Effects
- Wild: The player chooses a value between 2 and 12 that is equal to or greater than the current value. If it is equal, the value doubles. It can be played with another card to add values.
- Skip: The current value remains the same and the turn passes to the next player.
- Reverse Direction: Has the same effect as Skip and changes the direction of the direction card.
End of Game and Scoring
The game ends after 3 complete rounds.
Round Scoring
Scoring is based on the number of cards each player has in their Scoring Pile at the end of the round:
- 1st place (most cards): 1 point.
- 2nd place: 2 points.
- 3rd place: 3 points. >
- 4th place: 4 points.
- 5th place: 5 points.
- 6th place: 6 points.
Note: In case of a tie in position, all tied players receive the points for that position and the next position is skipped.
Penalty: The player who ends the Climb with the Forgotten card loses 1 point.
Victory
The winner is the player with the highest total score after 3 rounds. In case of a tie at the end of the game, the player with fewer cards in the third round wins. If the tie persists, the players split the victory.
Tips for Winning
Pay attention so you don't forget to refill your hand; otherwise, you will receive the Forgotten card and lose points.
Use the Wild card strategically to control the current value and ensure you can end the Climb in your favor.
