Goal of the Game
The goal of Perfil Express: Movies and Series is to be the first player or team to score the highest number of points after 5 cards have been played.
Setup
To start the fun, follow these steps:
- Shuffle the clue cards.
- Place the score markers on 0 (zero) on the scoring track.
- Players decide among themselves who will start the game. This player will be the moderator for the first round.
Note on categories: To make associating ideas easier, familiarize yourself with the card categories:
- PERSON: Any human being (living, deceased, real, or fictional), characters (e.g., Casper), professionals (e.g., astronaut), or groups of people.
- MOVIE: Movie titles, famous franchises, or iconic works of cinema.
- THING: Animals, inanimate beings, items (e.g., backpack), intangible or abstract concepts (e.g., hiccup).
- SERIES: TV or streaming series, series franchises, or entertainment programs in this format.
Gameplay Flow
The game follows a turn-based structure where the moderator guides the match:
- The moderator draws the first card from the deck and informs the opponents of the category (Person, Movie, Thing, or Series).
- The moderator reads clue 1.
- The player who is answering has two options: make a guess out loud or ask for the next clue.
- If the player asks for the next clue, the moderator must read the following clue (e.g., if they just read clue 1, they will read clue 2), strictly respecting the numerical order of the clues.
- If the player makes a guess and is correct, the moderator returns the card to the bottom of the deck, records the score, and the player who guessed correctly becomes the new moderator.
- If the player makes a guess and is incorrect, the moderator must read the next clue so the player has another chance. There is no penalty for an incorrect guess.
Actions and How to Play
During a turn, the main interactions are:
- Making a Guess: The player tries to guess the identity of the card. If they are correct, they score points and take on the role of moderator. If they are incorrect, the game continues with the reading of the next clue.
- Asking for a New Clue: If the player does not want to risk a guess, they can simply ask for the next clue to obtain more information.
The clues are progressive: clue 1 is the least revealing and, as the clue number increases up to clue 10, the information becomes increasingly easy.
End of Game and Scoring
The game ends after 5 cards have been completed. The winner is the one who has accumulated the highest score at the end of this period.
Scoring System:
- Only the player who correctly guesses the card scores.
- The point value depends on which clue the player guessed correctly:
- Correct on clue 1: 10 points.
- Correct on clue 2: 9 points.
- Correct on clue 3: 8 points.
- ...following the logic up to clue 10, which is worth 1 point.
- If the player does not guess correctly after reading clue 10, they do not score.
