How to Play 7 Wonders Duel: Pantheon
Welcome, fellow board game enthusiasts! Today, we're diving into the divine realm of 7 Wonders Duel with the Pantheon expansion. This guide will walk you through the setup, gameplay, and winning strategies, all based on the official manual. Let's get started!
The Goal of the Game
In 7 Wonders Duel: Pantheon, players compete to build the most glorious civilization. You'll be constructing buildings, advancing your military, developing science, and seeking the favor of the gods. The ultimate goal is to achieve victory through one of the game's specific win conditions or by accumulating the most points by the end of the game.
Setup
Let's get the game ready to play:
- Place the Conflict Board between the two players.
- Place the Conflict Pawn on the neutral space in the middle of the Conflict Board.
- Place the 4 Military Tokens face up on their indicated spaces on the Conflict Board.
- Shuffle the 10 Progress Tokens. Deal 5 of them face up onto the allocated spaces on the Conflict Board.
- If you're playing with the Pantheon expansion, shuffle the 3 additional new Progress Tokens (Poliorcetics, Mysticism, and Engineering) into the stack before dealing them.
- Put the rest of the Progress Tokens aside.
- If playing with Pantheon: place the Pantheon Board above the Conflict Board.
- Place all the Coins in the middle of the table to form a Bank. Each player takes 7 coins from the Bank.
- Shuffle the Age I deck and remove 3 cards without looking, placing them back in the box face down.
- Shuffle the Age II deck and remove 3 cards without looking, placing them back in the box face down.
- Age III deck preparation:
- Shuffle the Age III deck, remove 3 cards without looking, and place them back in the box.
- Shuffle the Guild Deck (or Grand Temple Cards if playing Pantheon). Select 3 cards and place the remaining deck, without looking, back in the box.
- Then, shuffle the three remaining Guild Deck / Grand Temple Cards into the Age III deck.
- Deal the Age I card structure. Add 5 random Mythology Tokens if playing Pantheon.
- Randomly decide the start player. Draft 4 Wonders per player in the following order: Player 1 / Player 2 / Player 2 / Player 1, and then Player 2 / Player 1 / Player 1 / Player 2.
Game Flow
The game progresses through three Ages. Each Age involves players taking turns to select and play cards from a shared structure. The specific structure of cards changes with each Age.

Actions and How to Play
On your turn, you must choose one card from the available structure and perform one of the following actions:
- Build a Building: Pay the cost of the building (if any) and place it in your play area. Buildings provide resources, military strength, science symbols, coins, or victory points.
- Build a Wonder: Pay the cost of the Wonder and place it in your play area. Wonders provide powerful benefits and victory points.
- Discard a Card for Coins: Discard a card from the structure to gain coins from the Bank. The number of coins gained depends on the card's position and any available coin-producing buildings you have.

End of Game and Scoring
The game ends immediately when one of the following conditions is met:
- A player achieves military supremacy by moving the Conflict Pawn to the opponent's last space on the Conflict Board.
- A player achieves scientific supremacy by collecting 6 different science symbols.
- The Age III deck runs out of cards.
If the game ends due to the Age III deck running out, players then proceed to scoring. Victory points are awarded for various elements, including buildings, Wonders, military strength, and science symbols. The player with the most victory points wins.

Tips for Winning
- Balance your development: While focusing on one aspect like military or science can lead to an early win, neglecting other areas can leave you vulnerable or with fewer points at the end.
- Watch your opponent: Pay close attention to what your opponent is building and what resources they are collecting. This can help you anticipate their moves and block them.
- Utilize the Pantheon: The gods offer powerful abilities. Choosing the right god at the right time can significantly swing the game in your favor.
