A Carnivore Did It! is a cooperative deduction game that puts players in the role of detectives in an animal kingdom. Each session presents a crime—who killed a fellow carnivore or herbivore?—and a set of suspects making statements like "The Shark is telling the truth" or "A carnivore did it." The goal is to figure out who the culprit is using logic and observation. You already know how many culprits are in the case and have an idea of how reliable the statements are, but not everything is what it seems. Maybe only one suspect is lying, or maybe most are telling the truth. The challenge is to combine clues and eliminate hypotheses until you reach the unique correct solution.
The game comes with 2,000 different cases, each with a single solution. Difficulty ramps up as you progress: some scenarios feature up to seven suspects, conditional statements, and varying levels of truthfulness. For those who love mystery and testing reasoning, this means endless hours of fun. There is also a campaign mode that links several cases in sequence. You earn points based on the time it takes to solve each crime, creating an internal race of speed and accuracy.
Components are simple: tokens representing suspects, statement cards, and a small board to organize data. The game is quick—each case takes about 20 minutes—and can be played by 1 to 5 people, making it ideal for small groups or a solo challenge. If you enjoy puzzles, cooperative narratives, and a touch of animal humor, A Carnivore Did It! is the right pick.
The gameplay experience is fluid and engaging: you feel the pressure of uncovering the truth before time runs out, but cooperation keeps tension at a healthy level. The visual design is fun, with caricatured animal illustrations and a clear layout that helps track clues. In short, it’s an intelligent, fast, and great game for mystery lovers who play as a team.
