1. Objetivo do Jogo

In Agricola: Revised Edition, you play as a farmer in 1670s Europe. Your goal is to feed your family and grow your wealth by plowing fields, cultivating crops, breeding animals, expanding your house, and raising children. The game ends after the 14th round; after the final Harvest and scoring, the player with the highest number of Victory Points (VP) wins.

2. Preparação (Setup)

  1. Each player selects a Farmyard Board and places it in front of them.
  2. Choose a colour (R/B/P/W) and take 5 People (workers), 4 Stables, and 15 Fences of that colour. Place one worker on each of the two Wood Rooms on your board; the rest of the items go into your personal supply.
  3. Place the main Game Board in the centre. Attach the appropriate extension (Small for 1–2 players, Large for 3–4 players) and return the unused one to the box.
  4. Shuffle the 23 Wood Room/Field Tiles and 16 Clay/Stone Room Tiles and place them in stacks next to the board.
  5. Set up the Major Improvement Supply Board and place the 10 Major Improvement Cards on their corresponding spaces.
  6. Shuffle the 48 Minor Improvement Cards (orange) and deal 7 face‑down to each player.
  7. Shuffle the 48 Occupation Cards (yellow), remove those not relevant to the player count, then deal 7 face‑down to each player.
  8. Shuffle the 14 Action Space Cards (green), sort them by number, and stack the piles face‑down (1s on top).
  9. Prepare the General Supplies:
    • Animals: 18 Sheep, 15 Boars, 13 Cattle
    • Building Resources: 30 Wood, 24 Clay, 14 Reed, 16 Stone
    • Crops: 24 Grain, 16 Vegetables
    • 44 Food Markers
    • 10 Multiple Good / Begging Markers

3. Fluxo do Jogo

The game lasts 14 Rounds, each consisting of four Phases:

  1. Preparation Phase
    • Draw and reveal the next Action Space Card and place it on the current round space.
    • Place goods on all Accumulation Spaces as indicated by their arrows.
  2. Work Phase
    • Starting with the Starting Player, each player places exactly one person on a vacant action space and immediately resolves its effect(s).
    • Players must be able to perform at least one available action to occupy a space.
    • Skip players who have no remaining people.
    • Permanent spaces always give the same action each round; accumulation spaces add goods; “And/Or” spaces may be resolved in any order; “And Afterwards” spaces must be resolved in the given order.
  3. Returning Home Phase
    • After all people have been used, they return to rooms on the Farmyard Board.
  4. Harvest Phase (occurs in rounds 4, 7, 9, 11, 13, 14)
    • Field Phase: Take exactly one crop from each of your fields.
    • Feeding Phase: Each person eats 2 food (newborns eat 1). Crops can be used as food if you have the appropriate improvement.
    • Breeding Phase: For each animal type you have at least two of, you gain one more of that type, provided you have storage space.

4. Ações e Como Jogar

Action Spaces

  • Permanent Action Spaces – give the same action every round.
  • Accumulation Spaces – add goods each round.
  • And/Or Spaces – resolve actions in any order.
  • And Afterwards Spaces – must resolve in the listed order.

Key Actions

  • Build Rooms (Farm Expansion): Pay 5 Wood/Clay/Stone (matching your house material) + 2 Reed to add a room adjacent to an existing one.
  • Family Growth with Room Only (Basic Wish for Children): Gain a person if you have a vacant room.
  • Family Growth without Room (Urgent Wish for Children): Gain a person even if no room is vacant.
  • Renovation (House Redevelopment): Upgrade all rooms from Wood to Clay or Clay to Stone by paying 1 Reed + 1 matching resource per room.
  • Fencing (Build Fences): Pay 1 Wood per fence to enclose contiguous vacant spaces into a pasture.
  • Build Stables (Farm Expansion): Pay 2 Wood per stable; each stable occupies one farmyard space.
  • Plow 1 Field (Cultivation): Take a Field Tile and place it orthogonally adjacent to an existing field.
  • Sow Grain / Sow Vegetables (Cultivation): Plant crops on empty fields using your grain/vegetable supply.
  • Major/Minor Improvement (Starting Player or Basic Wish for Children): Build an improvement by paying its resources.
  • Lessons (Occupations): Play an occupation card from your hand, paying its food cost.
  • Meeting Place (Starting Player): Become the Starting Player for the next round.

Animal Storage Rules

  • Home: 1 animal as a pet.
  • Stable: 1 animal per stable on an unfenced space.
  • Pasture: Each pasture space holds 2 animals of the same type; stables double capacity, 2 stables quadruple, 3 octuple, 4 sexdecuple.
  • Unstored animals must be cooked immediately (if you have a cookpot) or they run away.

Anytime Actions

  • Rearrange Animals: Move animals around your board as long as the final arrangement obeys storage rules.
  • Discard Items: Discard animals, building resources, or crops at any time.

5. Fim de Jogo e Pontuação

The game ends after the Harvest of round 14. Proceed to Final Scoring:

  • Fields and Pastures
    • Fields: –1/1/2/3/4 VP for 0–1/2/3/4/5+ field tiles.
    • Pastures: –1/1/2/3/4 VP for 0/1/2/3/4+ pastures (size irrelevant).
  • Rooms and People
    • Clay Rooms: 1 VP each.
    • Stone Rooms: 2 VP each.
    • People: 3 VP each (including the starting two).
  • Grain and Vegetables
    • Grain: –1/1/2/3/4 VP for 0/1/4/6/8+ grains.
    • Vegetables: –1/1/2/3/4 VP for 0/1/2/3/4+ vegetables.
  • Animals
    • Sheep: –1/1/2/3/4 VP for 0/1–3/4–5/6–7/8+.
    • Boars: –1/1/2/3/4 VP for 0/1–2/3–4/5–6/7+.
    • Cows: –1/1/2/3/4 VP for 0/1/2–3/4–5/6+.
  • Unused Farmyard Spaces: –1 VP per unused space.
  • Stables in Pastures: 1 VP per stable in a pasture (max 4).
  • Major & Minor Improvements: Score the points indicated on each card. Minor improvements in hand score no points.
  • Bonus Points: Apply any card‑specific scoring criteria or bonus points earned during play.
  • Joinery, Pottery, Basketmaker’s Workshop: Convert leftover building resources into points at the end.
  • Begging Tokens: Each token is –3 VP.

The player with the most VP wins. In a tie, the player with the most building resources left in personal supply wins.

6. Dicas para Vencer

  • Plan your Room Expansion early: building rooms before you run out of space keeps your house growing and allows you to gain more people.
  • Use Fencing strategically to create pastures that can hold multiple animals, then breed them during Harvest to boost your animal count.
  • Keep an eye on Major Improvements that convert crops or animals into food; they can help you meet feeding requirements and avoid losing points for starving people.
