About the game
What you do in a play session
AuZtralia: TaZmania takes the post‑war saga against the Old Ones to a mysterious island that might be humanity's last hope. The expansion adds two boards: a fixed one already surveyed for resources and horrors, and a fully modular one made of 66 terrain tiles shuffled each game, guaranteeing a different geography every play. Designed for 1‑2 players (or up to 3 when combined with the Revenge of the Old Ones expansion), TaZmania offers both cooperative sessions and a solid solo mode that can be played on the new maps or the original AuZtralia boards.
The Action Retrieval mechanic lets you reuse spent abilities, demanding careful planning so you don’t run out of options when the Old Ones appear. Meanwhile, Network and Route Building has you linking cities, outposts, and power sources, creating supply lines that generate production and victory points. Turn order is managed via a Time Track, dictating who acts when and adding tension as the clock ticks toward the return of the horrors.
With a weight of 2.7/5, the game features accessible rules yet enough strategic depth for players who enjoy resource optimization and efficient routing. Components are solid, with nicely illustrated terrain tiles and thematic markers that reinforce the Australian fantasy‑horror vibe. If you love solo campaigns, random map exploration, and a dash of Lovecraftian terror, TaZmania arrives as a well‑received upgrade to the base game without overwhelming the learning curve. In short, it expands AuZtralia's universe while keeping the dark atmosphere and smooth gameplay that fans cherish.
