About the game
What you do in a play session
Barbarossa's Finale: Moscow 1941 is a tactical wargame recreating the Soviet desperate defense against the German advance toward Moscow. With a compact 6-hex map (from Smolensk to Moscow), you command armies at varying scales, from corps to troublesome divisions like the Panfilov. Simplicity is key here: no traditional Zones of Control for German and Russian units, and combat resolved with a dynamic results table. Seven fast turns cover October to January 1941, where every decision matters. Russians start in historical positions but can improvise—at a victory point cost. And of course, there’s that tense 'should we gamble on Siberian reserves?' moment. The game has great solo potential thanks to unpredictable combat outcomes and fluid front penetrations. Pro tip: print components at a larger scale for group play (or just to appreciate the details).
