Step by step
Objective of the Game
In Bardwood Grove: Floresta do Molejo - Espiritos da Floresta, players take on the role of bards navigating a mystical forest. The goal is to harness the power of Spirit cards to gain benefits and outscore your opponents. The game ends when a specific condition is met (consult the manual for details), and the player with the most points wins.
Preparation (Setup)
To set up the game, follow these steps:
- Separate the Spirit cards into three shuffled, face-down decks based on their card back/type: Morning Spirits, Daytime Spirits, and Night Spirits.
- Give each player 1 Spirit card from each deck, so each player has 3 Spirit cards at the start of the game.
- If playing solo, give the Rival 1 VP gem from each VP pool at the beginning of the game.
Note: The Events from this expansion require the use of the Spirit cards. Do not use these events if you are not playing with the Spirit cards.
Game Flow
The game progresses through different phases, each allowing players to play specific types of Spirit cards:
- Composition Phase: Players can play Morning Spirits.
- Singing Phase: Players can play Daytime Spirits.
- Downtime Phase: Players can play Night Spirits.
After playing a Spirit card, the player gains all benefits indicated on the card and places it face-up to the left of their player board to indicate that it has been played. Unplayed Spirit cards grant no additional benefits at the end of the game.
Actions and How to Play
During their turn, players can play Spirit cards based on the current phase:
- Morning Spirits: Played during the Composition Phase.
- Daytime Spirits: Played during the Singing Phase.
- Night Spirits: Played during the Downtime Phase.
Each Spirit card provides a powerful, one-time benefit when played. Players must strategically decide when to use their Spirit cards to maximize their advantages.
End of Game and Scoring
The game ends when a specific condition is met (consult the manual for details). Players score points based on the benefits they gained from playing their Spirit cards and other scoring criteria (consult the manual for details). The player with the most points wins the game.
