Baronda is a 2023 card game that blends the tension of a classic trick‑taking game with the unpredictability of simultaneous bids. Two to five players face off in 15‑to‑30‑minute rounds, each announcing, without knowing what the others will say, how many tricks they expect to take. Once all bids are revealed, the round begins: hitting the exact number of tricks earns you points, missing the target costs you. If the total bids are too high, players who take fewer tricks than bid are not penalized; if the total bids are too low, those who take more tricks than bid are not rewarded. This “balance point” rule makes strategy more about reading opponents than about the deck itself. Baronda’s deck isn’t ordinary: in addition to the four standard suits, there are special Naga cards that outrank any trump, and Pass cards that are the lowest and can be played instead of following suit. The 0 card of each suit acts as a super‑trump when it appears in the same trick as a Naga, adding another layer of surprise. The visual design is clean, with illustrations reminiscent of woodcut style, and the simultaneous bidding mechanic creates a tense atmosphere similar to games like “Coup” or “The Resistance,” but with the elegance of a traditional card game. Baronda is perfect for those who enjoy fast strategic games that require player reading and quick decisions. If you love the thrill of whether you’ll hit your bid or not, Baronda will surprise you and keep the competition fierce until the last point.
