About the game
What you do in a play session
In *Beat the Backslide*, democracy hangs by a thread, and only teamwork can save it. As 2–6 players, you have six rounds to protect three vital tracks (Build, Win, Sustain) while fighting a Root Threat—like Rising Authoritarianism or Electoral Distrust. Each track must stay above zero, but even maxed-out tracks won’t save you if the Root Threat isn’t defeated. The tension is brutal: every round forces a choice between defending the tracks or advancing on the threat. Multi-use cards and once-per-game abilities help, but victory hinges on coordination, smart card trades, and clutch decisions under pressure. Losing is easy, but that hard-fought collective win? Totally worth it.
