Ceylon sets you at the heart of the 19th‑century tea revolution, when Sri Lanka (then Ceylon) had to replace coffee with tea after a devastating blight. As a pioneer, you plant crops across different districts and altitudes, develop technology, and win over local councilors to support your venture. The board is a regional map where each tile represents an agricultural district. You must place multi‑use cultivation cards on a grid that limits movement and expansion. Each turn, the phase order changes, forcing you to adapt your strategy to emerging opportunities. Scoring comes from three main sources: having plantations in each district, fulfilling export contracts, and advancing technologically. The majority/influence mechanic rewards controlling more territory in a region, while contracts add a long‑term objective that can shift the game’s dynamics. Ceylon blends resource planning, territorial control, and contract negotiation into a experience reminiscent of classics like Agricola, but with a unique twist of technology and international trade. If you love empire‑building, resource management, and a historical flavor, Ceylon will surprise you.
