Circle the Wagons: Lone Cowboy is the solo expansion that turns the already fun city‑building game into a one‑player showdown against the table itself. The core goal stays the same—draft and place city tiles around a circle of cards—but now you’re up against an invisible opponent that follows a set of drafting rules. Each set comes with six scenario cards that set the scoring conditions and add extra rules for the AI. You start by picking a scenario, placing it in the center, and adding the two scoring conditions listed on it. Then you deal eight cards in a circle. On your turn you draft a card and place it in your city; the cards you skip go to the opponent’s pile. The AI follows the scenario‑defined drafting criteria—such as always taking the highest‑value card or the one that creates the most connections—and places the card in its own city. The process repeats with another eight cards. After all 16 cards have been drafted, the final score is tallied: you sum your city’s points normally, while the opponent scores based on the scenario and the three most common territories in their pile. If you beat the opponent, you win the duel; otherwise, the lone cowboy loses. The game lasts about 15 minutes, perfect for a quick challenge without needing a group. The expansion is print‑and‑play, so it’s inexpensive and easy to set up at home. Components are simple: city cards, scenario cards, and scoring markers—no wooden pieces or board, just a circle of cards. The open‑draft mechanic lets you see all options before choosing, boosting strategy. The AI follows preset drafting rules, giving a consistent challenge. For players who love quick card games, city building, and testing their skills against an invisible opponent, Lone Cowboy is a solid pick. The Western theme adds a touch of adventure and nostalgia, with simple graphics and bright colors reminiscent of classic cowboy posters. The expansion is ideal for 15‑minute sessions, whether in cafés, on trips, or at home with friends looking for a quick, engaging solo game. Though solo, it keeps the fun of strategic placement, combining foresight and card luck. If you’re after a fast, enjoyable solo experience, Lone Cowboy delivers exactly that—no partner required.
