About the game

What you do in a play session

The Jester Promo Card is the expansion that adds a touch of chaos and surprise to the classic Coup. With a total of 12 cards – 5 Jester, 1 reference card, and 6 base cards – it replaces the Ambassador role, offering bluffing and swapping mechanics that make the game even more unpredictable. When a player chooses the Jester role, they can cause a "Disorder," taking a card from the Court deck and another from a chosen target. The player then secretly swaps one of their cards for one received, before returning a card to the Court deck and another to the target. The target can also claim the Jester role, avoiding the card exchange and blocking a theft when targeted by a Captain. This blocking mechanic is perfect for players who enjoy protecting their information and creating unexpected twists. The expansion was released as part of the Coup: Rebellion G54 Kickstarter edition but can be added to any base edition. It’s a quick and fun way to refresh the experience without a full game overhaul. Ideal for those who already know Coup’s flow and want something that heightens tension and suspense with a role that can flip the table at any moment.
