Get ready for an expansion that will make you meow with delight (or despair)! Cthulhu Wars: Bubastis introduces a feline faction with a very... different approach. Forget traditional cultists and Great Old Ones; here, the Goddess Bastet commands the scene, and her troops are cats of all shapes and sizes, including the bizarre Giant Blind Albino Penguins.
Bubastis operates from the Moon, a special gate that cannot be taken by other players, but also cannot be built or moved onto. This moon is your only gate, and your cats, which count as monsters and generate power, are your main units. Earth cats have a peculiar trait: they can be targeted by effects normally meant for cultists, opening up unexpected interactions. Each cat type has its own spell card, with abilities ranging from recruiting monsters without a gate to reversing combat results or boosting attacks.
But how do you win without conventional gates? Bubastis scores Doom Points based on the variety of cats they have on the main map and their impregnable Moon. Bastet, the Elder Goddess, doesn't roll combat dice but adds a kill point and forces the opponent to reduce their kill total. She also offers an alternative form of Ritual of Annihilation, generating Doom Points and Elder Signs based on her position and the presence of enemy gates or Great Old Ones. This faction is aggressive, focused on causing trouble, and hard to eliminate since the Moon is impregnable. The Giant Blind Albino Penguins, on the other hand, are neutral units that cost Power and serve to disrupt opponents, reducing their combat or even being assigned to the enemy side in battles you're not involved in. A peculiar and chaotic addition for those who enjoy cosmic feline chaos!
