Objective of the Game
In Cyclades: Monuments, players honor the gods by erecting colossal structures in their glory. These Monuments grant divine boons to those who build them or seize them through conquest. The game is designed for 2 to 5 players.
Preparation (Setup)
- Randomly draw a number of Monument cards equal to the number of players.
- Place these drawn Monument cards face-up next to the game board. These are the only Monuments that players can build during the game.
- Take the corresponding Monument miniatures for the drawn cards and return all other unused Monument cards and miniatures to the box.

Construction
Monuments are bonus buildings that a player can obtain when he controls the two associated base buildings shown on a Monument card. As soon as a player controls the two required buildings for an available Monument card, he builds the corresponding Monument.
- To build a Monument, place the Monument miniature in one of your territories.
- Take the corresponding Monument card as a reminder of its effect.
- The addition of a Monument can occur after the second required building is built, or after the player takes control of a territory where that building was already present.
- The two necessary buildings used to build a Monument stay on the board.
- If a player forgets to build a Monument when they have the opportunity, they can do so later in the game if they still possess the two required buildings and if no one else has built that specific Monument. However, the player must wait until they are resolving the actions of their god (being on Apollo does not allow it).
- A Monument does not occupy a building space; it is simply placed in the territory like a figurine that will not move until the end of the game.
- Each Monument provides a special effect to the player who occupies the territory it is located in.
- When a player takes control of a territory where there is a Monument, he takes the corresponding Monument card from its former owner. The new owner will then benefit from the Monument's effect.
- A Monument does not count as a building that can be used for the construction of a Metropolis.
- Each Monument can only be built once during the game.
Monument Special Abilities
- Great Citadel of Ares (Requires: Fortress + Fortress): As long as 1 or more of your troops are stationed on this territory, it cannot be invaded by sea, land (Titans), or air (Pegasus). However, this territory remains affected by other effects (Harpy, etc.).
- Military Academy (Requires: Fortress + University): When you collect revenues, place a troop on this territory for free. If this is not possible for any reason, this Monument does nothing this cycle.
- Great Lighthouse of Poseidon (Requires: Port + Port): Any of your fleets destroyed in battle can be saved and placed on a sea space that is adjacent to this territory and either empty or controlled by you. If this is not possible for any reason (all spaces are occupied by enemy fleets, Polyphemus is on the territory), your fleets are removed from the board.
- Academy of Naval Warfare (Requires: University + Port): When you collect revenues, place a free fleet on a sea space that is adjacent to this territory and either empty or controlled by you. If this is not possible for any reason, this Monument does nothing this cycle.
- City of Warriors (Requires: Port + Fortress): When defending this territory, all of your adjacent fleets count as troops. They are added to your die roll.
- Great University of Athena (Requires: University + University): You may buy more than 1 Philosopher with Athena.
- Great Temple of Zeus (Requires: Temple + Temple): When your turn starts, update the Mythological Creature track as if it was the beginning of the cycle.
- Temple of Athena (Requires: University + Temple): You pay 1 GP less to recruit Priests and Philosophers.
- Temple of Poseidon (Requires: Port + Temple): Once per cycle, on your turn, you may remove one of your fleets from the board to draw the top card of the Mythological Creatures deck and use its effect.
- Temple of Ares (Requires: Fortress + Temple): Once per cycle, on your turn, you may remove one of your troops from the board to randomly draw a card from the Mythological Creatures discard pile and use its effect.

Dicas para Vencer
- Pay attention to the Monument cards available during setup, as these are the only ones that can be built. Prioritize controlling the necessary base buildings to construct a powerful Monument early.
- Consider the strategic placement of your Monuments. Since a Monument grants its effect to the player occupying its territory, placing it in a well-defended or strategically important territory can maximize its benefit and make it harder for opponents to seize.
