About the game
What you do in a play session
Ever wanted that one hero who just kicks down the door and solves everything with raw strength? Meet the Barbarian! 'The Barbarian' expansion for Defenders of the Realm introduces a new powerhouse to your team, consisting of a detailed miniature and its corresponding character card. Originally released as a preorder bonus, it adds an extra layer of offensive power for players who love clearing the board efficiently.
The Barbarian isn't here to play around. His main advantage is 'Battle Rage', allowing you to spend action points to modify dice results before an attack roll. Essentially, you can 'buy' +1 bonuses to ensure that critical hit connects, although this tactic doesn't work against Generals (they're just too cunning). Additionally, he possesses the 'Famed Warrior' ability: if you defeat two or more enemies in a single attack, fear spreads, and minions in adjacent locations flee in terror, making map clearing much smoother.
To keep the momentum going, the Barbarian also benefits from 'Local Support'. Whenever he ends his turn at an Inn or a Black location, he can filter his resources more effectively by drawing three Hero Cards, choosing the two best, and discarding the weakest. He's the perfect addition for groups that feel their party needs more 'muscle' to face the enemy hordes. Just keep in mind that since this is a small expansion, you'll need the base game to put this brute into action.
