Game Objective
In Dig Deeper, the Investigation Team must work together to solve a mysterious case set in 1970s Boston. The goal is to deduce the answers to the case before time runs out. Since the game does not provide all the answers directly, players must use deduction to connect clues and information. The case consists of a Case Deck containing 36 cards (1 Cover Card and 35 Clue Cards).
Setup
To prepare the game, follow the base game instructions, applying the following exceptions and additions:
- Use the Game Board, Investigator Cards, and the Case Deck from this expansion.
- Do not use the Skill Tokens from Sipo Tecnologia in this expansion.
- Important: If necessary, use the 5 Special Tokens (01-05) from the base game to mark events on the board. If physical components run out, use a substitute.
- The case introduction is available on the Antares website (it can be downloaded as a PDF).
Gameplay Flow
The game takes place over a period of 4 days. Time is a critical resource and is controlled by the Time Track.
Time Structure and Movement
- Start of Day: At the beginning of each day (including the first), players may choose to start at ANY Location.
- Movement: When moving to another Location, you may choose to STEP ON IT, spending 1 Authority token to avoid spending an hour on travel.
- Actions and Times: Each action costs 1 to 3 hours (with exceptions). Some actions can only be performed at specific times (e.g., between 8 AM and 4 PM).
New Time Mechanics
- Call the Librarian: Can be done from any Location, but only between 8 AM and 4 PM. When performing this action, place a Special Token on the Time Track, 3 hours ahead of your current hour, indicating the research time. If the count exceeds 4 PM, continue from 8 AM the next day.
- Pick Up Results: Must be done at the Sent Concord Location, between 8 AM and 4 PM, after the library research time has elapsed.
Actions and How to Play
In addition to the base game actions, this expansion introduces new interactions:
- CALL THE LIBRARIAN: Allows you to request research on a New Library Topic. You must type the name of the topic into the Antares website. You can request multiple topics at once, but you must confirm them one by one.
- PICK UP RESULTS: Retrieves the information researched at the library. It does not consume time.
- INTERVIEW: Allows you to question people encountered during the investigation.
- Must be done at the City Services Location.
- Costs 1 hour and 1 Authority token.
- It is only possible to interview a person if you possess an Interview [name] card or clue.
- Questions are asked via keywords (e.g., "CAR", "KNIFE") or by asking for an ALIBI.
- The interview ends after 3 valid dialogues or 3 "I don't know anything about that" responses.
- EVIDENCE: Upon finding an "Evidence [name]" text, type it into the Antares Database. Library evidence is added automatically.
- WRITE A REPORT: This action can only be performed at the City Services Location (unless an ability allows otherwise).
End of Game and Scoring
The game ends when the players are ready to solve the case. To do this, you must type FINAL REPORT into the Antares Database input field.
The final score is determined by the Antares website, which will process the Final Report and the questions related to the case.
Tips for Winning
- Time Management: Keep an eye on the library hours; if you call the librarian too late, you will have to wait until the next day to pick up the results.
- Use of Authority: Use the STEP ON IT action wisely to save precious hours during travel.
- Deduction is Essential: Remember that no single card provides all the answers; you need to build a mental map to connect the clues.
