Objective of the Game

Consulte o manual para detalhes sobre esta seção.

Preparation (Setup)

To set up the game, each player receives an Aviary board, which they place above their Zoo board. All players must use the same side of their Aviary boards.

After placing the number of dinosaurs indicated in the base game rules for the number of players into the draw bag, each player draws 2 dinosaurs. They then place one dinosaur lying down on each of the "Egg" spaces on their Aviary board. Finally, add 2 Pterodactyls per player to the draw bag (even in a two-player game).

If playing with both expansions (Aerial Show and Marina), first complete the setup for Aerial Show, then the setup for Marina.

Components

  • 10 Pterodactyl meeples
  • 5 double-sided Aviary boards

Flow of the Game

During the game, each player draws and places 7 dinosaurs per round.

In two-player games, during the first two rounds, players each draw 8 dinosaurs and place 4 in their Zoos. In the following two rounds, each player draws 6 dinosaurs and places 3 in their Zoo.

Actions and How to Play

Playing Pterodactyls

Pterodactyls are a new species of dinosaur that can only be placed in the mountain zones on the new Aviary boards. After setup is complete, the mountains cannot receive any other types of dinosaurs. When players place Pterodactyls, they ignore requirements from the placement die.

Each player’s first Pterodactyl can only be placed on a space on their first mountain. Once a Pterodactyl has been placed on a mountain, the next mountain (connected to it by a hanging bridge) becomes available and can now receive Pterodactyls.

Like all dinosaurs, Pterodactyls can be placed in the River on the Zoo board.

Whenever a Pterodactyl is placed, it triggers an effect:

  • Take the dinosaur placed on this Egg and put it in the Pen of your choice or in the River. The placement die requirement does not apply to this dinosaur.

End of Game and Scoring

Before counting victory points at the end of the game, put all the dinosaurs that are still on Eggs back in the box. They do not provide any victory points.

At the end of the game, players earn victory points based on specific criteria:

  • Get the indicated number of victory points.
  • Earn 3 victory points per Pterodactyl in the Zoo belonging to the player on your left.
  • Earn 1 additional victory point for each Pen in your Zoo that contains (at least) one of this species of dinosaur.

Tips for Winning

  • When placing Pterodactyls, remember they ignore placement die requirements, offering flexibility.
  • Strategically place Pterodactyls to open up new mountains for future placements.
  • Consider the end-game scoring for Pterodactyls in your left-hand neighbor's Zoo when making placement decisions.
