About the game
What you do in a play session
Nebula adds a cosmic cloud of dust and gas to Eclipse's universe, presenting an uncharted region where stars are too young to host habitable planets. The expansion provides two Nebula hexes, an Ancient Monolith Discovery tile, and a Development/Rare Technology board, all ready to be shuffled with the regular Outer Sector tiles. When a Nebula hex is placed on the map, it creates three subsectors linked by wormholes; each subsector functions like a normal hex for movement, exploration, and influence purposes. During exploration, a Discovery tile is placed in each subsector bearing the discovery symbol and an ancient ship in the subsector with the ancient symbol. Unlike ordinary sectors, Influence Discs cannot be placed on Nebula hexes, preventing players from simply dominating the area with political power. To claim a Discovery tile, a player must have at least one ship in that subsector at the end of the Combat phase, encouraging tactical battles and risk decisions. The Ancient Monolith tile works like a regular monolith, can be collected and used for victory points. Additionally, the Rare Technology board lets players develop unique advances, adding further strategic variety to the 4‑X gameplay. Nebula therefore offers powerful discoveries, perfect hideouts, and new expansion routes, all while preserving Eclipse's core mechanics but deepening tactical depth and replayability.
