About the game
What you do in a play session
Evolution: Flight is the expansion that brings winged creatures into the beloved Evolution universe. Now, besides swimming, crawling or hunting on land, you can create bird species that glide over the terrain, escape predators and reach new niches when food runs low. Choosing between a traditional terrestrial organism or a flyer creates two distinct paths: flyers require discarding two cards when they are born, have a maximum body size of three (instead of six) and pay a food upkeep equal to their size – after all, keeping wings isn’t cheap. In return, they gain exclusive abilities, such as using expansion traits (Dive‑Bomb, Brood Parasite), tapping the "Cliff" food source, being immune to attacks from non‑flying carnivores, and, when combined with the Carnivore trait, being able to discard cards to negate effects like Symbiosis or Warning Call when attacking. The rest of the game stays true to Evolution’s core: you still manage your hand, select actions simultaneously and deploy units secretly, but now must weigh whether the wing investment is worth the tactical edge. Play time remains around an hour and the learning curve is minimal because the new rules are few and clearly explained. For 2‑6 players, the expansion adds even more strategic variety, letting those who love to fly reach the top of the food chain or, if preferred, continue dominating the ground. In short, Evolution: Flight broadens the evolutionary toolbox without complicating what already works, delivering a literal breath of fresh air for anyone who enjoys shaping creatures in a constantly shifting ecosystem.
