Step by step

Game Objective

The goal of Exploding Kittens: Streaking Kittens is to be the last player who hasn't exploded by drawing an Exploding Kitten. The Streaking Kittens expansion adds new cards and mechanics that allow you to hold an Exploding Kitten in your hand without exploding, but with additional risks.

Setup

  1. Remove the Exploding Kittens (4) and Defuse Cards (6) from the main deck.
  2. Remove the Exploding Kitten (1) from the Streaking Kittens expansion deck.
  3. Give each player 1 Defuse Card.
  4. Combine the remaining Defuse Cards with the 14 expansion cards and shuffle them into the main deck.
  5. For 2 or 3 players, return only 2 of the extra Defuse Cards to the deck and remove the rest.
  6. Deal 7 face-down cards to each player. Everyone should have 8 cards in hand (including the Defuse Card).
  7. Put the Exploding Kittens back into the deck, totaling a number equal to the number of players +1 (due to the Streaking Kitten).
  8. Remove any remaining Exploding Kittens from the game.
  9. Shuffle and form the Draw Pile in the center of the table, reserving space for the Discard Pile.
  10. Choose a player to go first.

Quick Game Variant

Randomly remove about one-third of the deck before inserting the Exploding Kittens and start the game with fewer cards.

Game Flow

The game proceeds in turns, where each player can play cards from their hand and, at the end of their turn, draw a card from the Draw Pile. If they draw an Exploding Kitten without a Defuse, the player explodes and is eliminated.

Actions and How to Play

Special Expansion Cards

  • Streaking Kitten: Allows you to hold an Exploding Kitten in your hand without exploding, but if it leaves your hand, you explode.
  • Super Skip: Ends your turn without drawing a card (useful after being attacked).
  • See the Future (5x): Look at the top 5 cards of the Draw Pile in secret.
  • Alter the Future (5x): Rearrange the top 5 cards of the Draw Pile.
  • Swap Top & Bottom: Swap the top and bottom cards of the Draw Pile without looking.
  • Trash Collection: Everyone chooses 1 card from their hand to put into the Draw Pile, which is then shuffled.
  • Atomic Bomb: Removes all visible Exploding Kittens from the deck, shuffles them, and returns them to the top.
  • Marked: Choose a player to have a marked card (face-up to others).
  • Curse of the Cat Butt: The targeted player must play with their cards face-down until they draw a card without exploding.

End of Game and Scoring

The game ends when only one player remains without exploding. There is no scoring—the last survivor wins.

Tips to Win

  • Use the Streaking Kitten carefully: it lets you hold an Exploding Kitten, but if you lose it, you explode.
  • Cards like See the Future and Alter the Future help avoid Exploding Kittens.
  • Play Curse of the Cat Butt on opponents to make their moves harder.
