Game Objective
In Fields of Green, each player takes on the role of a farmer who has four years to turn a piece of land into a productive farm. You do this by choosing cards of Plantations, Breeding, Structures, and Buildings, positioning them in the best possible way in your play area. At the end of the fourth year, the player with the most efficient farm – measured in PV (victory points) – wins the game.
Preparation (Setup)
- Separate all cards by type. You will have four main piles of Location Cards (Plantations, Breeding, Structures, and Buildings) and two piles of Water Tower Cards and Silo Cards.
- Shuffle each of the four main piles and place them face down in the center of the table. Place the corresponding Identifier piece in front of each pile.
- Place the Water Tower piles and Silo piles face up near the other piles.
- Distribute 15 coins to each player and one Water Tower card and one Silo card in front of them.
- Place 3 Water markers on each Water Tower and 1 Food marker on each Silo.
- Place the remaining coins and the PV markers, Water, and Food in the center of the table, within reach of everyone – these are the Supplies.
- Shuffle the Equipment pieces into a pile face down next to the Supplies.
- The player who most recently visited a farm or rural area receives the First Player marker and starts the game.
