About the game
What you do in a play session
Fields of Green transports players to the latter half of the 20th century, when farming was still the backbone of family economies. Each participant steps into the shoes of a farm owner who must expand land, raise livestock and install productive facilities to build an economic engine that generates resources and, ultimately, victory points. The game unfolds over four rounds, each representing a year of work. In every year players receive a closed set of cards, conduct a secret draft, and add the chosen cards to their personal board, which functions as a tableau farm. Cards can introduce new fields, animals, buildings or upgrades that boost production.
When the year ends the harvest season arrives. During this phase everyone irrigates fields, feeds animals and pays maintenance costs. If the balance is right, the harvest yields valuable resources—grain, wood, money—that can be reinvested in the following rounds. The order of phases may shift based on cards or strategic choices, creating a variable phase order that keeps the game from becoming predictable. Actions are selected simultaneously, so each player plans without knowing exactly what the opponent will do, raising tension and the need for anticipation.
Across the four years the goal is to turn accumulated wealth into victory points, whether by selling products, constructing high‑value buildings or hitting production milestones. The player with the most points after the fourth harvest wins. With beautifully illustrated cards, farm tiles and resource tokens, Fields of Green blends closed drafting, simultaneous action selection, tile placement and variable phase order, delivering a tableau‑building experience that will please both economic‑game fans and lovers of rural themes.
