About the game
What you do in a play session
Find Your Seats is a quick card game that puts you in the shoes of a party planner who somehow lost the seating chart. You only have three rounds to decide who sits next to whom, and each choice can make or break the conversation around the table. At the start of a game, each player receives a hand of cards representing guests – each card has a name, a hobby, and sometimes a quirky fact that can serve as a conversation starter. The goal is to assemble a group of guests that, when seated together, generate the highest possible score.
The core mechanic is Closed Drafting. Rather than picking cards from the top of a deck, you receive a set of cards in your hand and, on each turn, choose one to place on your table. Meanwhile, the other players do the same, creating a competitive environment for cards that pair well together. After all cards have been distributed, each player arranges the cards they hold in a line that represents the seating order. Scoring is done by comparing each adjacent pair of guests: if they share complementary hobbies or facts, you earn points; if not, you lose points. The player with the most points in a round wins that round, and the player who wins the most rounds takes the final victory.
The game is short – about 20 minutes per session – and works well for three to four players. The components are simple: a deck of guest cards, score tokens, and a small rule sheet. Though the mechanic is accessible, the need to think about combinations and anticipate opponents’ choices adds a strategic challenge that keeps the game engaging. If you enjoy card games that blend luck, light strategy, and plenty of conversation, Find Your Seats is a great pick for a relaxed game night.
