The Irish potato famine pushed you into petty theft, and before you knew it you’re shackled in the damp corridors of Spike Island. In Fled, each game is a race against time and the governor’s tyranny: you must rack up the most victory points while trying to break out of prison. At the start of your turn you place a tile onto the map, expanding the prison’s ever‑changing maze. Then you discard or play other tiles from your hand to move room to room, gathering contraband that can be swapped for tools in the right spots, such as the Warder's Quarters. Beware: when the governor calls roll‑call and you’re not in the proper room, a guard can shackle you again or send you to solitary, delaying your escape. The chaplain Father Lyons may lend a hand, offering unexpected chances of liberation. The game blends hand management, tile placement and modular board growth, creating a maze that reshapes each play. The racing mechanic keeps the tension high, while map exploration offers multiple escape routes. With high‑quality components – illustrated tiles, contraband cards and tool markers – Fled delivers a tense yet fun experience for 2‑4 players in 45‑80 minutes. Its light weight (2.8) ensures simple rules, but strategic depth emerges in deciding which tiles to play, when to discard, and how to optimise the path to the outer wall. If you love escape‑the‑prison, mutable mazes and quick decisions, Fled will get your heart racing each round.
