About the game
What you do in a play session
If you’ve enjoyed *Foundations of Rome: Roads of Fortune* and want to level up your roads, the Dice Tower 2023 Promo Road Board is the missing piece for your board. This board comes in two sides: the normal side, where civic buildings placed on the board edge count as adjacent to 4 citizens, 2 silver coins (or 1 victory point), and one more civic building; and the solo side, which changes the game when you play alone. On this side, if you hold majority influence, you gain 2 build actions; if goddess Ceres holds majority, she performs 1 enlarge park action; and if she has total control, she earns 2 victory points and takes 2 enlarge park actions. The board’s dimensions are larger than the original tiles (5.7 × 26.1 cm vs 5.1 × 25.3 cm), so it won’t fit into the base game Maximus insert. But don’t worry—just place the board in the center of the table and everything else stays the same. It was released as part of the Pack Archer of the Dice Tower 2023 Kickstarter campaign, so you can find it at game stores or on Dice Tower’s own site. In terms of components, besides the board, you still use all the base game pieces: road cards, coins, influence tokens, and Ceres icons. The gameplay experience becomes more dynamic because the solo board introduces extra decisions when you’re playing alone, and the normal side lets you expand your routes with greater flexibility. If you love route‑building games with influence mechanics and want something that fits your board without swapping out the base game, this expansion is the perfect pick. It’s a fun way to add depth to your Rome game while keeping the simplicity that makes *Roads of Fortune* so engaging.
