Objective of the Game
The expansion Heat: Rocky Roads introduces new challenges like gravel on the track, chicanes, and Aggressive Legends to the base game. While the core objective of racing remains, players will navigate these new track features and opponent behaviors. The provided context does not explicitly state a victory condition for the expansion itself, but it enhances the existing race gameplay.
Preparation (Setup)
To set up Heat: Rocky Roads, follow these steps:
- Obtain the expansion components, which include:
- 1 scorepad
- 1 double-sided game board with 2 different race tracks (South Africa and Germany)
- Cards to be added to their respective decks:
- 5 Stress cards
- 15 Heat cards
- 7 Sponsorship cards
- 12 Advanced Upgrade cards numbered 61 to 66 (2 copies of each)
- 4 Event cards (for the 1966 Season)
- 2 Track cards
- 3 Starting Upgrade cards
- Mix the new Upgrade and Sponsorship cards into their respective decks.
- If playing with the Weather and Road Conditions Module, during setup for Chicanes, only draw one Road Condition Token for each Chicane. If the token shows the Sector Symbol, it modifies the sector after the Chicane; otherwise, it modifies both Corner Lines.
- If playing in Championship Mode, the Press Corner can be one of the Chicane Corner Lines, always placed on the last Corner Line (when exiting the Chicane) as indicated on the Track Card.
- The 4 new Event cards can be used together for the 1966 Season or added to your Event cards deck for a custom Championship Season.
- For the Great Britain Track in the base game, if not already done, draw a Chevron on the "0" space in front of corners with a Speed limit of 6, 5, and 4 to apply the Aggressive Legends rule.
Flow of the Game
The game flow generally follows the base game's structure, with new rules applying during specific steps:
- Step 6 (Slipstream): The new Extra Slipstream Symbol can be used here to chain Slipstreaming movements.
- End of your turn (Step 9): When cards from the play area are discarded, if your car is on a Spot with gravel, you must pay one Heat if you have Heat cards in your Engine. Otherwise, ignore this effect.
- Legend's Turn: If a Legend starts its turn on a space with a chevron above the diamond on the track, it can cross one extra Corner Line this Round.

Gravel
If your car is on a Spot with gravel at the end of your turn (Step 9, when cards are discarded), you must pay one Heat if you have Heat cards in your Engine. If you don't have Heat cards, you simply ignore this effect.
Chicanes
Chicanes are a track feature found on the Germany Track. They consist of 2 consecutive Corner Lines with the same Speed Limit and one or more spaces between them, marked by blue curbs. If you are not playing with the Weather and Road Conditions Module, treat Chicanes like regular Corners. If you are using the module, a single Road Condition Token is drawn for each Chicane during setup. If this token shows the Sector Symbol, it modifies the sector after the Chicane; otherwise, it modifies both Corner Lines.
Aggressive Legends
Legends can be more aggressive on certain parts of the track. If a Legend starts its turn on a space with a chevron above the diamond, it gains the opportunity to clear two Corner Lines in the same round.
Extra Slipstream
The Extra Slipstream Symbol is an optional symbol used in Step 6 (Slipstream). It allows for an extra Slipstream move if the previous one places your car in a new Slipstream position. All bonuses to a Slipstream available for the round will also apply to this extra move. This extra movement does not count as speed because it is Slipstream movement. Standard rules apply if playing with the Weather and Road Conditions Module.
Example of Extra Slipstream:
- The blue player reveals their cards and moves 4 Spaces.
- For their regular Slipstream, the blue player applies a +1 Slipstream bonus from an Upgrade card and moves 3 extra Spaces.
- This move places them behind the green car, allowing them to use their first Extra Slipstream Symbol. At this point, the blue car is in a sector modified by a Weather Road Condition Token, so they use that +2 Slipstream Bonus along with the +1 from the Upgrade card, moving 5 more Spaces.
- The blue car is now behind the yellow car, allowing them to use their second Extra Slipstream Symbol. The blue car is no longer in the sector modified by the Weather Road Condition Token, so the +2 Slipstream bonus doesn't apply. The +1 bonus from the Upgrade card still applies, so the blue car advances 3 Spaces.
Event Cards
The expansion includes 4 new Event cards. These can be used together to play the 1966 Season or added to your existing Event cards deck when creating a custom Championship Season. An example Event card is "TIGHT MANEUVERS," which reduces your total Slipstream Value by 1.

Dicas para Vencer
- Manage Heat on Gravel Spots: Be mindful of gravel Spots on the South Africa Track. Ending your turn on one requires you to pay Heat if you have Heat cards in your Engine. Plan your moves to avoid these spots or ensure you have enough Heat to pay without consequence.
- Chain Slipstream Moves: Utilize the Extra Slipstream Symbol effectively. By strategically positioning your car to trigger multiple Slipstream opportunities, you can gain significant extra movement without it counting as speed, potentially allowing you to cross multiple Corner Lines without paying Heat, as shown in the example.
- Adapt to Aggressive Legends: On tracks where Legends can be aggressive (marked with a chevron), anticipate their ability to clear two Corner Lines in a single round. This might require adjusting your own speed and positioning to avoid being overtaken or to set up your own advantageous moves.
