Impulse is a fast‑paced 4X that puts you in command of a space fleet on a board made of cards. Each card provides an action, carries a color (red, yellow, blue or green) and a size (1, 2 or 3), and fits into the six‑sided hex edges that connect the map. At the start all map cards are face‑down and each player controls a "home" corner card, with two transport ships in the centre and a cruiser on one edge. Transports activate sectors you enter, while cruisers patrol and can destroy opposing transports. On your turn you place a card from your hand onto the "Impulse", the shared action queue; then you may use a technology in your territory, resolve all actions currently in the Impulse, and finally draw two cards. The Impulse has a limited length, so you must feed it with cards that help you more than your rivals, because cards that fall off stop producing effects. Actions can be boosted with same‑color minerals or extra transports, increasing the numeric value on the card (e.g., "Command [1] ship for one jump"). Points are earned by destroying enemy ships (1 point each), controlling edge spaces on the central card (1 point per edge), and other card‑based actions. The first to reach 20 points wins. The game blends hand management, grid movement, area influence and player elimination in 30‑60 minute rounds for 2‑6 players, with a light weight (3.0) and high replayability thanks to a modular board and variable phases.
