Get ready for a card game that's all about dodging the heat: Jalape-NO! Originally released as Pepper, this game challenges you to escape the spiciness, because here, the lowest score wins! The deck has 108 cards, numbered 1-18 across six different colors. The '1' cards of each color are the dreaded peppers. Depending on the player count (3-9 players), you'll use 4-6 of these colors, with cards ranging from 1-9 or even 1-18. Each round starts with 12 cards in hand, and any peppers you receive are immediately placed face-up on the table in front of you. When playing a trick, the lead player throws down a card or one of their peppers. Other players must follow suit if possible. The twist is, if you have the pepper of the led suit, you're not forced to play it, but you also can't play a pepper of a different color. Whoever plays the highest card of the led suit wins the trick and gets to lead the next one. If you win a pepper in a trick, it goes to your table, and you can use it later to start a trick or even play it on a trick already in progress. The round ends when a player runs out of cards. Then, everyone adds any remaining cards in hand to those already on their table. Each pepper is worth 2 points, and each card in the same suit as a pepper you have is worth 1 point. After five rounds, the player with the lowest score is the master of escape and the ultimate winner!
