Step by step
Objective of the Game
In Enchanted Garden, players take on the roles of fairies working to restore harmony and magic to a distant world. The goal is to explore the garden by acquiring Enchanted Garden cards and fulfilling Fairy card requirements to earn Exploration Points. The game ends when a player reaches 12 Exploration Points or when 3 Fairies are claimed. The player with the most points at the end wins.
Preparation (Setup)
- Sort the crystal cards based on player count (remove high-numbered cards for smaller groups) and shuffle them to form a draw deck.
- Deal 7 crystal cards to each player as their secret hand.
- Separate Enchanted Garden cards by level (I, II, III), shuffle each pile, and draw 4 cards from each level to display face-up.
- Place the 6 Fairy cards near the Garden cards, showing the player-count side.
- Choose a starting player and give them the Multicolored Crystal card.
Flow of the Game
The game is played over rounds, each consisting of 7 turns (tricks). At the start of each round, players refill their hands to 7 crystal cards. The player with the Multicolored Crystal card begins each trick by playing a card. Other players must follow the opening card’s color/type if possible. The highest-value matching card wins the trick, and the winner collects the played cards, adds one to their exploration area, and takes the Multicolored Crystal card to start the next trick.
Actions and How to Play
Playing Tricks
- The starting player plays any card from their hand (opening card). Others must play the same color/type if possible.
- If a player can’t follow, they may play any card, but they cannot win the trick.
- The highest-value matching card wins. The winner chooses one card from the trick for their exploration area (max 3 cards) and discards the rest.
Acquiring Enchanted Garden Cards
- Players can buy Garden cards by spending crystal cards from their exploration area and applying bonuses from previously acquired Garden cards.
- Costs must be paid with a minimum number of crystal cards equal to the card’s level (e.g., Level II requires at least 2 crystal cards).
- Level III cards require a 0-value crystal card (wild card).
- Acquisitions happen after a trick ends (only the trick winner) or at the end of a round (all players).
Claiming Fairies
After acquiring a Garden card, check if it meets a Fairy card requirement (e.g., collecting 4 red Garden cards). The first player to fulfill a Fairy’s requirement claims it for maximum points; later players earn fewer points.
End of Game and Scoring
The game ends when a player reaches 12 Exploration Points or 3 Fairies are claimed. Finish the current round, then tally points from:
- Enchanted Garden cards (points listed on cards).
- Fairy cards (points vary by order of completion).
Tiebreakers: Fewest Garden cards → most high-level cards → most Fairies → shared victory.
Tips for Winning
- Prioritize Fairy requirements: Focus on collecting sets of Garden cards to claim Fairies early for maximum points.
- Manage your exploration area: Keep high-value or wild (0-value) crystal cards to buy Level III Garden cards.
- Watch opponents’ bonuses: Block others from completing Fairy sets by acquiring key Garden cards first.
