About the game

What you do in a play session

Kingdom Maps puts you in the shoes of a royal cartographer tasked with turning medieval territories into accurate sketches. Each player gets a sheet divided into zones for different terrain types – forests, mountains, rivers and fields – and on every round decides which terrain to map. You then roll three six‑sided dice and pick one result to determine how many spaces of that terrain you may fill. The clever part is the leftover dice: the other players each take one of the remaining results and also draw the same terrain type, but with the amount they choose. The game ends as soon as a player can no longer place the required number on his map, and scoring follows four criteria that change each game – such as most connected areas or fewest empty spaces. This rotating set of goals keeps each play fresh and forces you to adapt strategies. Because everything is paper, pencil and dice, production is minimal: just print the sheets, have a few dice and a pencil. A quick 20‑40 minute playtime supports 1‑4 players, including a solo mode. The re‑rolling and locking mechanic lets you try to improve your roll before committing, adding a tactical twist to the classic roll‑and‑write formula. Perfect for fans of light games who enjoy drawing, love a bit of strategic efficiency, and don’t want to invest in pricey components.
