About the game
What you do in a play session
Leafbearer is a light solitaire card game that blends the puzzle-like feel of a board game with the classic strategy of Mancala. In a charming realm, a mysterious illness threatens the most unusual creatures, and it’s up to you, the herb‑caretaker, to find the right dose for each critter. The board consists of a set of cards representing locations where herbs can be distributed, and each card displays a number of tokens that symbolize the available remedies.
Token movement follows Mancala logic: you pick a card, remove all tokens on it, and deposit them onto subsequent cards, following the board’s order. Every creature has a different severity level, and the amount of herbs it needs equals exactly the number of tokens you leave on the corresponding card. Over‑feeding the creature by leaving too many tokens costs you points; under‑feeding it means you can’t heal the animal and also lose points. Thus, the key is to plan the sequence of moves so that each card holds the exact amount of tokens at the right moment.
Besides requiring careful counting, the game tests your foresight. Because each card carries a different “weight,” you must decide whether it’s worth moving tokens to distant cards or keeping them close to heal the lower‑level animals quickly. The challenge grows as the number of cards increases, but the simple rule of “place the right amount” keeps the game approachable for all ages.
Leafbearer delivers a solitaire experience that mixes strategy, memory, and a dash of whimsy. If you enjoy games that demand thoughtful planning and still want something light and quick, this card game is perfect for filling the gaps between longer sessions.
