How to Play Madeira: The Ambassadors

Game Objective

The objective of the game is to use the new Guild Favors of the Ambassadors in conjunction with the base game Madeira. Although the context does not detail the victory condition of the base game, the expansion adds new strategic options through the Ambassadors.

Preparation (Setup)

To set up the game with the Madeira: The Ambassadors expansion, follow these steps:

1. Take the 4 Guild Favors of the Ambassadors.
2. Shuffle these 4 Guild Favors with the Guild Favors from the base game.
3. Randomly choose 1 Favor per Guild and place it back in the box. These Favors will not be used for the rest of the game.
4. All other base game setup rules still apply.

• 6 Bread

Actions and How to Play

The The Ambassadors expansion introduces new Guild Favors that players can use. Each Ambassador offers a specific action:

• Counselor: For each Colony where the player has at least 1 Ship, they receive 1 Good (Wheat, Sugar, or Wine, according to the Good depicted on the Colony).
• Minister Resident: For each Colony where the player has at least 1 Worker, they receive 2 Bread.
• Envoy: The player receives 2 Reals for each of their Ships in the Colonies.
• High Commissioner: The player pays 4 Reals and immediately moves 1 of their Workers to any Colony Land. After moving the Worker, they then gain 1 PP for each of their Ships in that Colony, if any, and may perform the action of 1 of the 2 King’s Rewards in that Colony. The player may move the Worker from their Home, any other Colony Land, any City space, or any Field. They cannot move it from the City Watch.
