Objective of the Game
In Mage Knight: The Apocalypse Dragon, players face the terrifying Apocalypse Dragon, a five-headed monstrosity reborn through the machinations of the Apocalypse Cult. As Heroes, you must work together (or compete) to defeat the dragon and its minions, the Four Horsemen, before they lay waste to the land. The game ends when the Apocalypse Dragon is defeated or a scenario-specific victory condition is met.
Preparation (Setup)
To set up the game:
- Place the Apocalypse Dragon miniature and its five large head tokens nearby.
- Shuffle the possessed enemy tokens and stack them face down.
- Add the new countryside and core map tiles to the existing piles.
- Prepare the Quest cards (if using) by shuffling the starting 9 cards and setting aside a number equal to players + 2 (4 for solo).
- Each player receives their Hero components (e.g., Coral’s Hero card, Basic Actions, and Skill tokens).
- Place Faction tokens (Apocalypse Cult and Council of the Void) in separate face-down piles.
