How to Play Marvel Villainous: We Are Venom

Objective of the Game

As Venom, your goal is to use Symbiote tokens to reduce the Strength of any Spider-Man Hero to 0. To achieve victory, you must satisfy two conditions: you must have more Venom Symbiote tokens on a Spider-Man Hero than that Hero's current Strength, and that Spider-Man Hero must be located in Venom's Domain.

Note that a Spider-Man Hero is defined as any Hero with "Spider-Man" in their name. If multiple Spider-Man Heroes are in play, you only need to reduce the Strength of one of them to 0 to win.

Preparation (Setup)

To prepare your game as Venom, follow these steps:

• Place the Symbiote tokens with the Venom side facing up in a pile near your Domain. This pile is known as the Symbiote pool.
• Ensure all Symbiote tokens start with the Venom side facing up unless a card states otherwise.

The core of your strategy involves managing Symbiote tokens. These tokens have two sides: the Venom side (showing a Symbiote bonded with Eddie Brock) and the Spider-Man side (showing a Symbiote bonded with Spider-Man).

Using Symbiote Tokens

• Weakening Characters: When a Symbiote token is placed on a character with the Venom side facing up, it acts as a -1 Strength token. When that Hero is defeated or removed, the token returns to the Symbiote pool.
• Ally Recovery: If an Ally with a Symbiote token is defeated or used to resolve an Event, you may return the Symbiote token to the Symbiote pool instead of discarding the Ally.
• Placement: Cards such as Internal Struggle, You are Not Innocent, and Allies Lasher and Agony allow you to place Symbiote tokens directly on Heroes.

Special Card Interactions

• Spider-Man Hero Mechanics: When Venom vanquishes any Spider-Man Hero, he relocates that Hero to any location in Venom's Domain.
• Scarlet Spider: This Hero may take up to four Venom Symbiote tokens from one Spider-Man Hero. The player who plays Scarlet Spider chooses how many tokens to move and from which Spider-Man Hero. Note that Spider-Man Symbiote tokens cannot be placed on Scarlet Spider.
• Symbiote Suit: This card functions differently based on its location. If played or relocated into Venom's Domain, it acts as an Effect and is discarded after its Ability is used. If played to any other Domain, it acts as a Hero; Symbiote tokens may be placed on it, which increases the Strength of the Event by 1.

The game ends immediately when you successfully reduce a Spider-Man Hero's Strength to 0 using Symbiote tokens, provided that the Spider-Man Hero is currently in Venom's Domain. When a Spider-Man Symbiote token is placed on a Spider-Man Hero, it acts as a +1 Strength token, which you must overcome or change to win.

• Manage your Symbiote pool: Use your Allies to hold Symbiote tokens; if they are defeated or used for an Event, you can return the tokens to the pool rather than losing the tokens entirely.
• Control the location: Since your victory condition requires the Spider-Man Hero to be in your Domain, prioritize using your Vanquish actions to relocate them to your Domain if they are elsewhere.
• Counter the Symbiote Suit: Be aware that the Symbiote Suit can flip tokens to the Spider-Man side (acting as +1 Strength). You must actively work to overcome or change these tokens to reach the 0 Strength requirement.
