In Medievalia, you step into the shoes of a newly appointed Feudal Lord, ready to develop your new land, which looks more like a patch of wilderness with a village of wanderers. To make matters worse, your worst enemies have been granted the neighboring fiefs, and they certainly won't hesitate to try and eliminate you! Could this 'reward' actually be a punishment?
The game invites you on a strategic journey where you must thrive amidst numerous challenges. In the early stages, the focus is on expanding your fief, increasing food production, and growing your population. As time progresses, you'll begin constructing buildings, specializing your populace in various professions, and eventually raising your army.
The core mechanic of Medievalia is that all these actions are performed using cards from your hand. Each card played has a resource cost and, in return, generates other resources or benefits. Effectively managing these resources is the key to playing increasingly powerful cards and gaining more flexibility in your moves. It's a game that demands planning and adaptation, where every decision counts towards your rise (or fall!) in the kingdom.
