Game Objective
In Mercado da Bola, each player takes on the role of manager of a soccer team. The goal is to accumulate the most championship points over the rounds, winning or drawing matches against other teams. The victory condition is to have the highest score in the championship table at the end of the final turn. If there is a tie in the final score, consult the manual for tiebreaker details.
Preparation (Setup)
- Team Selection: Each participant chooses one of the six available teams.
- Sponsor: The player draws, without looking, a sponsorship card (ten options). The card indicates the initial sponsorship share the team receives.
- Pawns and Scoreboard: Place each player's pawn on the Round Scoreboard space. Then each player rolls the die and moves the pawn the indicated number of spaces.
- Lineup and Salaries: Before the game starts, teams present their lineups and set each player's salary (base salary of $1,000 per player).
- Player Market: On spaces corresponding to positions (goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, forward), players can buy athletes. There is no limit to trades.
- News Center: When a player lands on this space, they draw a news card that can affect the team (player arrivals/departures, sponsor changes, etc.).
- Sponsorship Share: When landing on this space, the player receives an extra share from their sponsor.
Game Flow
- Movement: Each turn, the player rolls the die and moves their pawn. If they land on a purchase space, news center, or sponsorship share space, they perform the corresponding action.
- Round Scoreboard: When all players reach the Round Scoreboard space, the round ends.
- Round Games: Following the championship table, teams play matches. For each match, the attacking and defending players are defined (the attacker chooses who defends first).
